killing 32 people

and sympathizers begin rioting in
protest.

ASSASSINATED BY POLITICAL RIVAL DAN
WHITE AT SAN FRANCISCO CITY HALL.
OUTRAGE OVER THE ASSASSINATIONS AND
THE SHORT SENTENCE GIVEN TO WHITE
(SEVEN YEARS) PROMPTED THE WHITE
NIGHT RIOTS.

Shepard was a student at
the University of Wyoming who was
tied to a fence, beaten, tortured, and
left to die near Laramie, Wyoming. He
died on October 12, from severe head
injuries.
His murderers used a ”gay panic

driven to temporary
insanity by alleged sexual advances by

down the street because they were

passenger jumped from a passing
