To Whom It May Concern:
I am a previous student of Miss. Crockett, and it gives me great pleasure to write this
reference on her behalf.
Miss. Crockett was my IGCSE and IB HL Biology teacher for four years. I was very
lucky to be taught by her, because she treated her students as friends. We were able to
discuss with her our academic and personal problems. Her classes were always
stimulating and would cater to all types of students, whether they were oral, visual or
kinesthetic learners. Every lesson was an interesting one. Each student would always
leave her classroom having learnt something new and exciting.
What I found to be most inspiring was the way she organized her teaching. Every chapter
we tackled had a comprehensive syllabus to go along with it. Whenever we needed to
know the structures and functions of something, we were taught to draw diagrams. If the
topic was difficult, Miss. Crockett would condense it down to something that was easily
understandable. She had many techniques that would aid learning; storytelling and lively
presentations being a few. She employed different types of technology to help us absorb
vast amounts of information, such as photographs, videos and also an interactive drawing
system with our individual devices. She was always prepared thoroughly- in the event
that she could not teach us, she would have packs for us to complete under the
supervision of a substitute. Her lectures were always well delivered, and nothing seemed
to be missing from them. It was apparent that she put in a lot of effort and planning into
her classes, and it paid off. Her passion increased our own motivation, and this is the sign
of a great teacher.
Outside the classroom, she also guided us with our extracurricular endeavors. She was
keen to know about us as people, because that would help her mold her lessons according
to us. She would teach us about how the world beyond high school worked. She taught us
skills that we would need at work, such as being critical and always asking questions. She
was an open and understanding person, not to mention very friendly, precise and
hardworking. She was well aware of what needed to be done, and always set targets to
improve for herself and her students. It was clear that she took her job as more than a job:
it was a passion.
I would not hesitate to recommend Miss Crockett for a teaching position, because I
cannot see anyone doing her job better than her.
