Radiology and Imaging Services at Hospitality Health Emergency Room
1. Radiology and Imaging
At both our Longview and Tyler ER locations, we have full radiology
and imaging services, so you can get the answers you need right
away.
X-Ray, CT Scans, Ultrasounds and other Imaging Procedures
performed and read by Emergency Room board-Certified Physician.
2. DIGITAL X-RAY
If you think your child has swallowed something or you think you may have broken an
ankle, Hospitality Health ER has digital X-Rays onsite to give you the results you
need—fast. Digital X-Rays reduce your exposure to radiation by up to 80 percent
compared to film-based systems. Unlike film, digital X-Ray images can be magnified,
sharpened, colorized, or displayed as a negative which helps our radiologist make a
more precise diagnosis of your condition. Digital radiography is also much faster than
film, which means faster results.
3. X-RAYS CAN BE USED TO DIAGNOSE :
• Conditions Affecting the Lungs
• Enlarged Heart
• Fractures
• Infections
• Blood Clots
• Swallowed Items
• Pneumonia
• Foreign Bodies
• Obstructions
WHAT TO EXPECT :
Depending on the images needed, the X-Ray
technician will ask you to lie, sit, or stand in
several positions during the process. You will
be asked to hold your breath and remain still
while the images are being taken. This
provides the clearest images possible.
* We have digital X-Ray machines at both our
Longview and Tyler ER Centers.
4. CT SCAN
Computed tomography (CT) is an imaging procedure that uses special x-ray
equipment to capture detailed pictures, or scans, of areas inside the body such as
bones and tissue. It is also called computerized tomography and computerized
axial tomography (CAT Scan).
5. CT SCANS ARE USED TO CAPTURE MORE
DETAILED IMAGES OF POTENTIAL MEDICAL
CONDITIONS THROUGHOUT THE BODY
INCLUDING :
• Injuries
• Stroke
• Organ Failure
• Blood Clots
• Infections
• Digestive Problems
• Blockages
• Tumors
WHAT TO EXPECT :
You will be asked to lie on a table inside a
doughnut-shaped machine, which allows the
patient to remain in an open environment,
unlike an MRI.
* We go beyond the services of most urgent
care clinics to provide CT scans onsite at both
our Longview and Tyler emergency care
centers.
6. ULTRASOUND
For pregnant patients experiencing bleeding or other abnormal symptoms, we
have onsite ultrasound capabilities to assess the status of the baby. Ultrasound
imaging (sonography) uses high-frequency sound waves to show what is going on
inside of your body in real-time. The scan shows the movement of your internal
organs and the blood flowing through your blood vessels.
7. ULTRASOUNDS ARE MOSTLY USED TO
ASSESS :
• The health and vitals of your baby
• Abdominal and pelvic organs
• Muscles and tendons
• Heart and blood vessels
WHAT TO EXPECT :
When you undergo an ultrasound exam, the
technician will apply gel to your skin as a
conductor and then use a transducer (probe) to
capture the image.
* We provide ultrasound testing onsite at both
our Longview and Tyler emergency rooms.
8. EKG
Is it a panic attack or a heart attack? Just like a hospital ER, HHER is equipped
with an electrocardiogram (EKG or ECG) onsite to measure the electrical activity
of the heartbeat. An EKG tells how fast your heart is beating, the timing of
electrical signals as they pass through each part of your heart, and whether you
have a steady or irregular heartbeat rhythm.
9. AN EKG IS USED TO MONITOR
PACEMAKERS AND DIAGNOSE :
• Heart attacks
• Arrhythmias (ah-RITH-me-ahs)
• Heart failure
WHAT TO EXPECT :
EKG is a painless, risk-free test that just takes
a few minutes and is performed while you are
awake. Electrodes (small, plastic patches) are
placed directly on your skin at different
locations on your chest, arms and legs. These
electrodes are connected to wires that
communicate with an EKG machine.
* We provide EKG testing onsite at both our
Longview and Tyler emergency rooms.
