I can add a bit more colour as I am SME - Close, Consolidate, and Reporting:
a) State of the organization can play a role, i.e. high acquisition/divestiture or
geographically disperse or ownership/investments
b) Changing the culture to data driven culture.
c) Working with Microsoft Excel and not trying to replace it. Adopting
Microsoft Excel add-ins that leverage OLAP data.
d) Having a close, consolidate, reporting control blueprint.
e) Eliminating data silos through a data modernization
