Master’s Research: Analysis of Anthropogenic Impacts to Water Availability Boston, MA
in Suburban Watersheds of the Boston Metropolitan Area Sept 2012-Aug 2014
Collected and analyzed hydrologic data as well as human water-use data for three large watersheds. Used
Excel spreadsheets to organize, calculate, analyze, and perform quality assurance on large datasets.
Categorized water stress in the watersheds at annual and seasonal time scales based on natural water
availability as well as direct human interactions (such as consumptive use). Used ArcGIS/Excel to model
storm runoff change over time (30 years) as a function of land use change. Presented research at the
UCOWR-NIWR-CUAHSI Conference at Tufts University, June 2014. Manuscript in review (Journal of
Hydrologic Engineering, submitted August 2014).
University of Massachusetts Boston Boston, MA
Hydrologic Field Technician May-Sept 2013
Manually collected streamflow and water quality data at various sites throughout MA as part of a research
project investigating the ecological effects of dam removal. Performed instrument calibration,
maintenance, and troubleshooting on stream gaging equipment and multi-parameter water quality
instruments. Field work partly consisted of weekly 24-hour overnight sampling and long distance travel.
