EDUCATION
B.S., Geobiology | Senior Thesis: Phosphate Cycling in a Meromictic Lake – May 2014
The Pennsylvania State University – University Park, Pa
EXPERIENCES
Merrill W. Linn Environmental Conservancy | Lewisburg, Pa – March 2015-Present
Environmental Specialist
Conduct water sampling and analysis in the Buffalo Creek watershed.
Educate the public about critical local, regional, and national environmental issues.
Work cooperatively with other conservation organizations, government agencies, attorneys, estate planners, developers,
and private citizens to identify, evaluate, and protect land using conservation easements, land gifts, and purchases.
Mount Nittany Medical Center | State College, Pa – December 2014-Present
Specimen Processing Technician
Manage and direct the flow of specimens from the emergency room, ICU and floor to the laboratory.
Communicate with physicians, nurses and medical technologists to ensure specimens are collected correctly and
processed in a timely manner.
Great Western Malting | Vancouver, Wa – January 2014-June 2014
Laboratory Technician
Prepared and maintained quality control documentation, such as maintenance logs and control charts.
Performed procedures and calculations critical to quality control including mass spectrometry, pH, conductivity,
viscosity and instrument calibration.
Displayed acuity in analytical and organic chemistry, developed laboratory testing protocols and experimental design
through the set-up and execution of numerous laboratory testing and experiments on both current and prototype
methods.
College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, Penn State University | University Park, Pa – April 2011-Dec 2013
Research Assistant
Developed thesis and conducted independent research on a strain of purple sulfur bacteria found in Green Lake, NY
that may provide insight on early forms of photoautotrophic life as well as major past ocean anoxic events.
Concluded that the movement of anoxic purple bacteria is directly related to the concentration of the nutrient
phosphate in the water column, thus characterizing a major seasonal feature and behavior of anoxic bacterial
communities in meromictic lakes.
College of Earth and Mineral Sciences, Penn State University | University Park, Pa – May 2011-August 2011
Geology Field Camp
Designed detailed geologic maps using ArcGIS and GPS to construct reports in several states including Utah,
Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming.
Studied sedimentology, stratigraphy, and structural geology in a variety of environments ranging from deserts to snow-
capped mountains.
Eberly College of Science, Penn State University | University Park, Pa – May 2010-August 2010
Research Assistant
Investigated the effects of climate change on several invasive species of plants.
Developed laboratory testing methods and engineered instruments that were used to construct a scientific hypothesis
on the distribution of seeds during drought.
