1. Electronic Media And Sleep Research
Electronic Media and Sleep Over the years, electronic media has contributed different ways in the modern society, especially young adults, who has
been the largest group among media users. The use of Electronic Media has recently raised a concern regarding to sleeping behaviors that are presented
among students around the world. Since the early 21st century, researchers have conducted a study that shows the connection between electronic media
and sleeping patterns with young adults (Journal of Sleep Research, 2014, 389). As students increasingly continue their habits of using Electronic
Media as personal entertainment purpose, they are at a potential risk of developing insufficient amount of sleep as well as encountering health
problems. Even though Electronic Media has given students access to their education and promote social network connection, Electronic Media use
should be limited at school because too much exposure to Electronic Media can cause health problems and social isolation among young adults and the
use of electronic media interferes with students sleeping habits. This paper will explore two of the main scholarly articles that are published in 2014 as
well as an authoritative source with similar research procedures that involves, among young adults' exposure to electronic media while also examining
the change of sleeping pattern habits among university students. Tavernier, Royette & Willoughby, Teena (2014) examines the sleeping duration among

2. In the 1970s and 1980s, books, newspapers, and magazines were printed on large presses by national and multinational publishing houses. Print was a
flourishing industry that had managed to overcome any challengers, including television and the radio. Any legitimate writer, academic researcher,
scientist, or journalist was published in print. For those seeking the most upâtoâdate, respected, and accurate information, books, periodicals, and
newspapers were the chosen source. This is as it had been for many years, and it seemed that this would be so for hundreds of years to come. Until,
when in the early 1990s, a relatively unheard of new technology called the Internet, which had begun in the early 1960s as a government and scientific
computer network, began to emerge on college campuses and in other areas (Courtright, 2002). So as mentioned, there are two media that have been
used nowadays which are printed media and...show more content...
Both have their respective advantages as well as disadvantages. But to neglect or ignore one for another would not be the ideal way because each
form has its own significance. The books, for example, cannot be replaced by television, while the attraction of internet and web cannot fully
overtake the charm of newspapers and magazines. Moreover people working in different media fields and their livelihoods would be affected if
any media suffer a setback. But at the same time one must also be ready to accept the reality that with time it would become difficult for old media
to survive in the new "digital" age. So, for its survival the old media must make use of new techniques and technologies to upgrade itself and also try
to keep intact its genuineness which by no way is an easy task. But still we can try. The production of the eâbooks, eânewspaper and internet radio are
some of the successful efforts to assimilate the old with the

3. The hand of electronic media has been extending its reach into many different aspects of our lives throughout the rise of more advanced technology,
starting with the advent of the radio. This new and exciting age of electronic media feeds into the amazement of our nation, by creating outrageous and
seemingly impossible ways to become connected, that the generation of the radio would have never imagined. Electronic media has produced a
substantial amount of positive impacts in our society, like allowing us the instant connectivity to world problems and news, but with the invention of the
television, we as a society fell into the trap that television show producers laid out for us. We feel as though we now have a need for every snippet
or shred of news and information to be presented to us in an entertaining form. This need to feel entertained at all costs stretches into the realm of
religious televised programming as well; to aid in the success of television show ratings, producers of religious programming have removed any
substance or deep spiritual meaning from their programs in order to appeal to a wider scope of the nation. This indeed seems to be the greatest
expense that the growth of electronic media renders since it rattles the nation's religious core values and morals. The requirement of having an
entertainment based outlook on society is a learned behavior that develops as soon as a child starts watching television. Using entertaining methods to

I have heard people say that someone is "on their phone too much". I guess this statement could describe myself because I spend almost any
moment when I am not busy on my iPhone. In fact, I have even spent some money on subscriptions for mobile apps. But at times, I give up usage
of electronic media to focus on life's simple pleasures. By keeping track of my use of electronic media, I have gained a clear understanding of how such
usage affects my life. On Saturday, August 26, 2017, I used my iPad for over five hours. I spent over three hours playing video games on my family's
Xbox One console, almost 2 ĐĐ hours using my MacBook Pro laptop, and over two hours watching television. I only used my iPhone for 15 minutes.
Two days later, I used my phone for over five hours, while I surfed the Internet on mycomputer for nearly half the time. I spent more than a half hour
on my tablet and about the same amount of time on a Windows computer at school. And the next day, I spent over 4 ĐĐ hours on my phone and more
than 3 ĐĐ hours using my tablet. I used a Mac computer at school for more than an hour and my laptop for more than half the time. I think my use
of electronic media definitely reflects my personality and interests. I like to stay informed of current events, so I constantly check my phone for
notifications I need to clear, as well as my Gmail and Facebook accounts. I enjoy watching true crime television series, including American Greed,
Snapped, Deadly Sins, and Deadly Women. I rely on the Xfinity Stream, Oxygen Now, and ID (Investigation Discovery) GO to view this genre of
shows. I like to unwind with a game every once in awhile, and I often play Bee Brilliant, Family Feud 2, Family Feud Live, Wheel of Fortune, and
Wheel of Fortune Free Play on both my phone and my tablet. Very rarely do I play video games on a console, but I enjoy driving games, including
Grand Theft Auto V. I play this game on my family's Xbox One, while my father and brother usually monopolize it. I also watch my two favorite game
shows, Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud, on a highâdefinition television, my phone, or my tablet. I am an aspiring musician, so I spend time

marketers to promote the products or services into the market. The main objective of digital marketing is attracting customers and allowing them to
interact with the brand through digital media. This article focuses on the importance of digital marketing for both marketers and consumers. We
examine the effect of digital marketing on the firms' sales. Additionally the differences between traditional marketing and digital marketing in this
paper are presented. This study has described various forms of digital marketing, effectiveness of it and the impact it has on firm's sales. The examined
sample consists of one hundred fifty firms and fifty executives which have been randomly selected to prove the effectiveness of digital marketing.
Collected data has been analyzed with the help of various statistical tools and techniques.

7. Impact of Electronic Media on Cognitive Development of Children There have been many changes in the technological scene in the last few years.
This has prompted the argument on what people stand to benefit from these advancements. This is why there have been many studies and researches
that are all intended to show how the electronic media assists in learning amongst children. However, there has been little attention as to what the
electronic media does to the same children. The electronic media has become a favorite amongst the learners and in particular children. It is
imperative to note that the learning process is not passive. This is because the children do not just heed to the instructions and assume that anything is
learnt. The process of learning is active and cognitive. Therefore, the environment under which a child is in has a significant influence on the learning
process. It is vivid from this argument that the media has a significant role in the shaping of the children. Electronic media is very beneficial in the
learning process but it is imperative that there are regulations because it has a dominant role in cognitive development of children. Even at the most
tender of ages, children are already active in the use of the media. The television is the main media that the children are exposed to at this early age. It
may seem that the children do not understand anything in the televisions and could lead to some disputing the idea of its involvement in

Ray, et al.(5) from India reported that children having exposure to violence through media had poorer school performance and its impact on their

are a result of frequent and a regular exposure to murderâmystery movies, and stories filled with violence and torture that children view on TV and
movies. Association between TV viewing and suicidal behavior has also been reported from India(8). Both content exposure and screen time of media
had independent detrimental associations with school performance in children and adolescents (9). Hopf, et al.(10) showed that the more frequently
children view horror and violent films during childhood, and the more frequently they play violent electronic games at the beginning of adolescence,
the higher will these students' violence and delinquency be at the age of 14. Primack, et al.(11) showed that excessive TV viewing in adolescence is a
risk factor for development of depression in young adulthood. TV viewing may play an exacerbating, if not causal, role in the development of
attentionâdeficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)(12). This hypothesis is consistent

10. Throughout the years, technology has impacted our daily lives. Specifically, digital media, which is our smart phones, laptops, video games, and
anything else that is computerized. We rely on digital media through everyday tasks because it has proven to be beneficial in navigating and connecting
us with the world, however there is great debate whether our technology has any detrimental effect on our cognitive development and skills. As we
know, technology has become a great part of our identity. Although, there is evidence that digital media has various benefits and risks for ourcognition.
Nevertheless, it remains a topic of discussion since technology continues to thrive and become part of our daily routine.
Chassiakos and colleagues (2016) discusses the costs and benefits of digital and social media use in children and adolescents. There are various ways
digital and social media may impact the child's development. The authors explain that digital media may improve cognitive and social development for
young children depending on the amount of exposure, type of digital content, and active parental guidance. Additionally, the authors explain how
digital media advocates social engagement and community that helps teenager's development and selfâesteem. However, the authors provide plenty of
evidence that the use of digital and social media may be linked to the risk of obesity, cognitive development, safety, mental health, behavioral risks, and
sleep deprivation. For instance,

Over the last decades, it is generally realized that the educational technology has developed dramatically. Electronic media has benefitted the system of
education in an enormous way. Electronic media is the media which uses electronics or electromechanical energy for the audience to access the content.
Video recording, audio recording, multimedia presentations, CDâROM and online content are all forms of electronic media and any equipment used in

Therefore, with the viewpoint of the writers it elaborates that mobile devices, internet and graphical games are the three types of eâlearning that has
created curiosity, a sense of social interaction and eagerness to learn new thing among students and the content of these technologies are based on
recent curriculum. This helps a student to follow well defined instructions and to share opnions and discussions online for better assessment.
In addition to this Poore (2013) argued that the new social media has reformed the traditional media resources such as the usage of newspapers, books
and magazines have reduced due to the availability of information on online resources such as Moodle and WebCT. Hence, it also provides intellectual
benefits such as children can learn how to analyze, interpret and synthesize the information. Okoro (2012) acknowledge that integrating social media
technologies into higher education can enhance ongoing communication between teacher and student which helps in promoting collaborative learning
activities. His findings laid stress on effectiveness of teaching and student learning outcomes with an appropriate example of understanding the usage of
electronic media in making strategies and practicing skills in business

12. The Problem Of Electronic Media
In the previous sections of this paper I have sought to provide the context necessary to understand the significant and sustainable transformation
undergone by Croatian media in the years following the Yugoslav Wars of Dissolution. It has been through this analysis that I have endeavored to
illuminate some of the many issues facing the Croatian media systems as a whole, and to establish the historical background necessary to understand the
current state of media throughout the country. In this section I will argue that the Law on Electronic Media has not only failed to be implemented
properly, but that cultural, political, and economic factors have resulted in a climate that has substantiality impaired the ability and willingness of the
nation to fully comply with EU standards governing media. I will establish this claim through exploring past and current problems with the Law on
Electronic Media relying on scholarly sources and original analysis of a few of the many barriers currently facing the law and its full implementation.
While many scholars have sought to understand issues of compliance with EU law across the European Union and among new member states, few
studies have sought to examine in depth the failed implementation of a single law. This is an approach I believe to be particularly pertinent to
illuminating those issues and underlying problems that may directly impede implementation at the microâlevel. The Law on Electronic Media

both with respect to field and with respect to the form of communication. Different scientific fields have developed and use distinctly different

We see notable risks in a pure laissezâfaire "let them work it out for themselves" approach. Large amounts of money, resources, and effort are being
committed (by government agencies, by academic departments, by publishers, by professional societies, and by individual researchers) to the
development, maintenance, and promotion of various forms of communications technologies for use in global science. However, in the absence of a
valid theory of how scholarly fields adopt and shape technology, scientists and policyâmakers are left only with contextâfree models, and hence
resources may be committed to projects that are not selfâsustainable, that wither, and that do not effectively improve the scientific communications
system of the field. The consequences may not only be subâoptimal use of financial resources, but also wasted effort on the part of individual
researchers, and even data languishing in marginal, decaying, and dead systems and formats. The purpose of this JASIS perspectives article is to
deepen our understanding of the future of electronic communications in science. It is difficult to predict the longterm future, as too many contingencies
can and will shape longâterm outcomes to make meaningful predictions. One may casually predict that that many if not all research journals will issue

Role of electronic and print media in promoting awareness: Any policy to gain momentum must have public support. The public must be convinced of
its importance through repeated exposure and explained the repercussions of not implementing the policy. The role of print and electronic media lacks

By gaining insight on media's role in the community, individuals will better understand the enormous responsibility given to those who are chosen to
monitor this medium.
Premise Statement
The premise of my thesis is that electronic media has become the leading source society utilizes to obtain information on world events. My research
shows how electronic media has grown over the years from being a medium for news and entertainment purposes into the complex powerhouse it is
16. today replacing print as the number one source to obtain information on past, present, and future events around the world. Inquiry as to how electronic
media has gained so much popularity that many are inclined to choose this form of communication over print news publications has been examined by
means of primary and secondary research and a conclusion has been drawn that will support my position about electronic media's impact on the
community as a whole.
Limitations
As I have been exposed to broadcast media for over ten years (both in academia and professional experience) and have no proficient exposure to
print, my research could be interpreted as being biased toward media. As I am also a student continuing my education in the field of media
communication, my thesis paper might be assessed by others as the work of a novice however, I will make every effort to remain objective in my
approach to conduct practical research

common denominator is the performance of communication, and the understanding of what the sender is trying to get to the receiver. Using effective

It has been reported that the future of electronic information is not embraced by a lot of the news media as free interactive services generate low
levels of interest with payâperâcall services as the main source of revenue. However, Rupert Murdoch saw the opportunities offered by new
technology, and through diversification created an international press, followed by a television domain, creating a truly global media empire
(Shawcross:1999).
However, other print media have resisted being fully represented on the web. Interestingly, reports claim the traditional newspaper will continue to
survive due to common factors such as the much loved writer or columnist, local community news and the personal link to world news (Fulton 1996).
However it could be argued that these same factors are applicable to the internet. Melinda McAdams, a primary contributor in the setup of the
Washington's Posts online service, recognizes the above mentioned factors also support the internet inferring "a person with a lot of onâline experience
thinks more about connections, organization, movement within and among sets of information, and communication among different people"

and press, politics are presented in many different ways and with many different views. The media can be used to influence the people in both positive
and negative ways. This paper will outline these influences and state examples in a variety of different platforms.

Between the presidential election of 1992 and 1996, there was a higher national voting turnout by 9%. This means that the media has positively
influenced the voting statistics.
One of the negative effects of the medias influence on the people is creating a difficulty to remain nuetral while reporting political news. When an
issue is addressed improperly through the media, it creates confusion and an inability to take a certain side on an issue. For instance, if a news
reporter were to make negative references on a certain issue, the people watching will be more influenced to take a negative approach to the issue.
This can cause much confusion since a different reporter could take a positive approach and turn the peoples decision that way.
Yet another negative way that the media has been known to affect the people is by falsely stating the news. It is hard to believe, but in the election of

me and just do this sentence by yourself)
In this case, the press printed a newspaper reporting that Harry Trueman had lost the election, when in fact he had won. This questioned both the
integrety of the press and the confidence of its readers.
One last negative influence of the media is when the media overplays a certain issue. This can be related to in a very recent
