• It is reported by Agricutural Statistic Department
of GOB that in 2013 22,00,000 ton ( Twenty two
lac ton) maize was cultivated in Bangladesh .

Evidence Findings
The very first undeniable
difficulties-
FARM TO GHAT
• It takes two to three hours to
reach from farm to ghat.
• Only way to reach there is on
foot hiring labor (women cannot
take part here due to this
constraints)
• Traders do not like to come to
Char due to this factor
The next difficulties is
the River itself
CHAR GHAT TO
MAINLAND GHAT
• Ghat are volatile (changes
place)
• Randomly have rafting as a
result difficult to load and
unload
• Farmers often have to wait for
1-2 hours to catch the next boat
during peak day (Haat Day). No
places for waiting for women
(sit on sand).

38. Conclusion and Recommendations :
Conclusions :
From the proposed Business Plan and analysis it is concluded that the project is
technically feasible , economically viable and commercially reward able.
Recommendations :
Intervention 01:Proper storage of Maize in the close locality will encourage and
economically feasible for all concerned of the crops.
Intervention 02: Inclusion of Maize as priority crop in national agricultural policy
Intervention 03: Promoting improved cultivation technique to maize farmers through
input companies and DAE.
Intervention 04: Promoting appropriate post-harvest techniques and technology
among maize farmers and contractors
Intervention 05: Introducing Char friendly small scale storage (SILO)
Intervention 06: Creating awareness on alternative usage of Maize and promoting
diversified use of maize through flour mills and industrial bakeries
Intervention 07: Promote women’s safety, health and endowment to productive work
