To whom it may concern:
I’m writing in enthusiastic support of Paige Stepien’s application for an academic scholarship
from Humana. I had the pleasure of having Paige in a fall semester class I taught, where she
impressed me with her leadership qualities and academic performance.
Paige is a nursing major, and has taken the initiative to join a number of professional
organizations on campus which will prepare her for the future. For example, she is involved with
the Bethel Student Nursing Association (BSNA), which will provide her with a network of
academic and social support, as well as a bible study group for nurses, where she can gain the
philosophical foundation necessary to become an effective nurse. She shown concern for the
disadvantaged by volunteering at Feed My Starving Children, a non-profit which packages
meals to be shipped to third-world countries. Most importantly, Paige is involved with the Future
Leadership program (FLP). It is necessary to be nominated by a faculty member for this
program, and I nominated Paige for it; her leadership qualities in and outside of class made her
an easy choice.
On a personal level, Paige is a caring person of integrity, and will make a wonderful nurse. She
is a conscientious student, giving full effort to assignments and discussions. I’ve been so
impressed with her that I plan to employ her as a teaching assistant next year for my class,
Introduction to the Liberal Arts. She is very approachable so she will be a wonderful resource
for incoming students. I fully expect her to continue her high academic performance, as well as
to further develop her leadership skills in her remaining three years at Bethel.
Sincerely,
Carisa Richner
