2. WHO IS JEFF BEZOS ?
➢JEFFERY PRESTON “JEFF” BEZOS is an American entrepreneur.
➢ He played a key role in the growth of e-commerce as the
founder and chief executive officer of amazon.com.
➢ Amazon.com is an online merchant of books and later of a wide
variety of products.
➢He is the fourth wealthiest person in the world according to both
Bloomberg’s billionaries index and forbes.
➢He was born in Albuquerque,New Mexico,on 12 January 1964.

3. Family background
Jeffrey Preston Jorgensen (Bezos) was born as the son Jacklyn (nee Gise) and
Theodore Jorgensen.
Jeff’s parents was divorced when he was two years old.
After divorced, his mother married Cuban immigrant Migule “Mike”Bezos in April
1968.
Shortly after the wedding, Mike adopted four year old “Jeff” whose surname was then
legally changed from Jorgensen to “Bezos”

➢ The young Bezos attended River Oaks Elementary School in Houston from
fourth to sixth grade.
➢Bezos attended Miami Palmetto Senior High School
➢He completed his education from Princeton University and graduated with
a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering and computer science .

➢After graduating from Princeton University in 1986, Bezos worked on wall
Street in a variety of realated fileds from 1986 to early 1994.
➢ Bezos founded Amazon in late 1994 on road trip from New York City to
Seattle .
➢In 2000, Bezos founded the Aeroscope manufacturer & sub orbital
spaceflight services company “Blue Origin”.
➢ Bezos makes personal investments through his Venture capital vehicle,
Bezos Expeditions.
➢In September 2021, bezos cofounded Altos Labs dedicated to harnessing
cellular programming to develop longevity theapeutics

6. Amazon
➢ Jeff Bezos incorporated the company in July 1994, and the site went Online as amazon.com in 1995
➢ He initially set up his company in his garage.
➢ Bezos initially named his new company Cadabra but later changed the name to Amazon because the
name begins with letter A , which is at the beginning of the alphabet. So name starting with the letter A
would appear sooner when customers conducted online research.
➢ Amazon is major provider of cloud computing services.
➢ Amazon.com started as an online bookstore, but soon diversified,selling DVD’s, CD’s, MP3
downloads, software, video games ,electronics, apparel, furniture, food, toys, and jwellery and
many more things.
➢ From the “Earth’s biggest bookstore” it becomes “Earth’s biggest anything store”

➢ In 2012,Bezos was named Buisness person of the year by Fortune.
➢ 2014-2018 ,he was ranked the best performing CEO in the world by Harvard Buisness Review.
➢ In 2016, Bezos received a $250,000 prize for winning the Heinlein Prize for Advances in Space
Commercialization, which he donated to the students for the exploration and development of space.
➢ He received Germany’s 2018 Axel Springer Award for Business Innovation and social responsibility.
