     David Scott
Contents

●   An in depth section about the theories and
    ideas behind leadership.
●   Such as What is leadership?
●   Explaining the difference and importance of
    transactional and transformational leadership.
●   Three leadership styles have been picked to be
    explained and evaluated by the context they
    are used in.
●   These leadership styles will then be evaluated
    again in my life for example at School.
Three “Trial Sequences” Evaluating the styles and success of past
leaders

Evaluations of these leaders based on same style but different
contexts.

A section on self analysis based on feedback from a 360. It will
feature the strengths of the three sections of a 360 (Self
Awareness, Problem Solving and Communication)

I will then identify my weaknesses and then explain how I will turn
these weaknesses into things I can do competently.
And now to the courtroom.

Now that the court has assembled we can now begin
the first of three trials planned today to conclude
leadership week. The leaders under trial will be
Hannibal, Dwight Eisenhower and an unknown chilean
miner. Sounds fishy.
Your Honour.... The trial hasn't to
start for another three hours. Why on
earth did you call us in?
You old foolishly foolish fool how

Ahem. Your Honour. I have
been wondering and it will
be critical to know this
today. No matter where I
search there are different
opinions. What is
leadership?
Ahh the age old question my friend. What is leadership? Is there
truly an answer? Is it truly definable?
Stop right there you foolishly foolish fool of a foolish fool! How
dare you question a question. Of course there is a perfect
answer. How can you call yourself a judge and doubt questions
can be answered?!
Very well Miss Von Karma. Please tell us more about this
“perfect” answer.
According to the Oxford Dictionary
leadership is “the action of leading a
Group of people or an organisation
Or having the ability to do this.”
Tsk tsk Miss Von Karma. Looking up the dictionary
And calling it perfect? You've slipped my dear.
You foolishly foolish fool! What isn't perfect about that?
The fact it is too general. You can lead yourself after all. And
that is quite a common form of leadership.
Well... You explain
this you fool!
I'll tell you what we'll do. Since it's the best definition we have
and since there are always exceptions to the rules. I will accept
this definition.
However... I would like to explain to you why you are wrong. By
explaining different styles of leadership in this world.
Good lord! We only have three hours man!
An excellent point your honour! For that reason I will only
explain three of them. Commanding, Affiliative and Visionary.
You foolishly foolish fool. How dare you think you can impress
me with jargon. Prove yourself David Scott. Prove to me right
now you are not just a simple minded fool.
Why do I get the feeling that this whole thing will only lose
me the simple minded bit?
Now then Fransizka pay attention and don't let your whip
wander any more than your mouth.

...Now then. The commanding leadership style is essentially
the military style and therefore what we think of when we think
leadership. It is when one man gives the orders that the rest of
the team must follow. This can often be rather demanding on
the team.
Well there you have it! You just exposed your own weakness.
Why did you explain the flaw?!
To get you thinking that way Fransizka. I think bit of evaluation
is in order To make you see how vast leadership as a term really
is.
You're almost smarter than you look. But don't you dare think that
is a compliment.
You are right though. This is a very exhausting Leadership style at tim
some cases where teams have just disbanded.
You mean they just walked away from their leader?
More than likely your Honour. It would probably drain morale and if
the situation was critical and fast paced. It is plausible that people
may feel overwhelmed causing them to just walk away.
That was actually a really good explanation Fransizka. But I would
say this style of leadership is critical in times where work has to
be done fast and orders cannot be misunderstood. Other styles of
leadership can use words to make you fall into a false sense of
security. But not this one. And that is important sometimes .
Pah! You are a fool if you think you impressed me there. What about
that Affiliative nonsense you went on about earlier?
Oh yes. Affiliative. Now this is one that really does wrap you in
words.
These kind of leaders always annoy me. using words to trip you
up and make you sign things. I mean how am I supposed to
understand what comprehend means?
… Your Honour. Not that kind of wrap up. Thee leaders boost
morale. They tend to those with low morale which may lead to low
productivity given the situation. They will sweet talk and
compliment them to make them feel better and make them more
self assured and confident. They will tell them are always doing
well. The word usually follows however.
The foolishly foolish fools! So basically he could be making
errors and this leader would be smiling?
Basically yes. This style of leadership can be rather flawed.
And! I'm not finished David Scott! How dare you interrupt me?!
You also stated that the team members with low morale are the
ones being focussed on. Which makes me think the rest of them
are not receiving the praise for being actually good at their jobs.
Which leads to their morale being lowered and them expecting sub
par efforts to be acceptable. These foolish fools should be more
like a Von Karma and strive for perfection in every way.
If everyone was a lot more like you Fransizka there would be a
whole lot less people to lead.

Other styles of leadership can use words to make you fall into a false sense of security. But not this one. And that is important sometimes .
