Objective
• To develop and use molecular and bioengineering tools with emphasis on small materials and bio-inspired biology
in order to further understand, diagnose, image, and treat diseases to tackle unmet challenge in medical needs
including but not limited to Inflammatory Arthritis, Diabetes and Cancer Subtypes.
• To work in the interface between chemistry, material science and engineering, and biology in collaboration with an
interdisciplinary team including clinicians, pharmacologists, medical doctors and bioengineers to a) develop the
next generation of macro/nano drug delivery systems to deliver drugs to patients in a safe, effective, and
compliant manner; b) study biological, therapeutic, and detrimental functions of cell-based systems to better

understand and utilize them to treat a variety of diseases; and c) synthesize, develop and engineer biomaterials
for therapeutic applications in biomedicine.
Education
Post-Doctoral Associate in Biomedical Devices & Translational Research, with Dr. Noel Elman 03/2014-Present

• Developing, designing (e.g. Solid work software), re-engineering, and 3D printing biomedical devices prototypes
for rapid microfluidic reconstitution of lyophilized drugs such as vaccines, antibiotics, and emergency medications
for controlled release in rural areas, ambulatory setting, ERs, and disaster zones. This rapid reconstitution
technology is for dramatically advancing soldier protection and survivability capabilities however it could have dual
use for military and civilian applications. Emphasis of this medical device is on drugs that cannot be practically
refrigerated today, allowing for the use of these drugs beyond their current ability.
• Developing a portable biomarker medical device-using novel assays based on QDs and integrated electro-optics
system. This technological platform combine the use of functionalized quantum dots and an optical-electronic
platform (fiber optics-electro transducer system) for the detection of biomarkers e.g. cortisol, epinephrine. This
project has the potential to make a social impact for home detection of cardiac, endocrine and cancer biomarkers.

• Developing and establishing long-acting, sustainable, and efficient micro- and nanoparticle systems to deliver
drugs. In this study male SPF Sprague-Dawley rats were used.
• Developing FRET aptamer biosensors that can detect insulin secretion in real-time in vivo from transplanted β-
cells (or their precursors). In this study the mouse anterior chamber model is used.
• Engineering cell surfaces to target inflamed pancreas in diabetic mice and monitor their homing to the targeted
place as a “Zip Code”. In this study diabetic mouse models are used.
• Engineering Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) to deliver cargos to inflamed areas. In this study mouse models
are used.
• Developing a smart biologically responsive hydrogel platform that releases drugs in response to local expression
of enzymes (e.g. MMP-2/MMP-9) that correlates with the level of inflammation in arthritis (Rheumatoid Arthritis).
In this study mouse models with induced knee inflammation will be used.
• Immobilizing contract agents on implantable human vein graft for enhancement of vessel wall in MR Imaging.

Objective • To develop and use molecular and bioengineering tools with emphasis on small materials and bio-inspired biology in order to further understand, diagnose, image, and treat diseases to tackle unmet challenge in medical needs including but not limited to Inflammatory Arthritis, Diabetes and Cancer Subtypes. • To work in the interface between chemistry, material science and engineering, and biology in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team including clinicians, pharmacologists, medical doctors and bioengineers to a) develop the next generation of macro/nano drug delivery systems to deliver drugs to patients in a safe, effective, and compliant manner; b) study biological, therapeutic, and detrimental functions of cell-based systems to better

Education Post-Doctoral Associate in Biomedical Devices & Translational Research, with Dr. Noel Elman 03/2014-Present Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. • Developing, designing (e.g. Solid work software), re-engineering, and 3D printing biomedical devices prototypes for rapid microfluidic reconstitution of lyophilized drugs such as vaccines, antibiotics, and emergency medications for controlled release in rural areas, ambulatory setting, ERs, and disaster zones. This rapid reconstitution technology is for dramatically advancing soldier protection and survivability capabilities however it could have dual use for military and civilian applications. Emphasis of this medical device is on drugs that cannot be practically refrigerated today, allowing for the use of these drugs beyond their current ability. • Developing a portable biomarker medical device-using novel assays based on QDs and integrated electro-optics system. This technological platform combine the use of functionalized quantum dots and an optical-electronic platform (fiber optics-electro transducer system) for the detection of biomarkers e.g. cortisol, epinephrine. This project has the potential to make a social impact for home detection of cardiac, endocrine and cancer biomarkers. Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in BioMedical Engineering, with Prof. Jeffrey M. Karp 11/2010-02/2014 Division of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Medicine Center for Regenerative Therapeutics Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Harvard Stem Cell Institute and Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology (HST) Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. • Developing and establishing long-acting, sustainable, and efficient micro- and nanoparticle systems to deliver drugs. In this study male SPF Sprague-Dawley rats were used. • Developing FRET aptamer biosensors that can detect insulin secretion in real-time in vivo from transplanted β- cells (or their precursors). In this study the mouse anterior chamber model is used. • Engineering cell surfaces to target inflamed pancreas in diabetic mice and monitor their homing to the targeted place as a “Zip Code”. In this study diabetic mouse models are used. • Engineering Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSCs) to deliver cargos to inflamed areas. In this study mouse models are used. • Developing a smart biologically responsive hydrogel platform that releases drugs in response to local expression of enzymes (e.g. MMP-2/MMP-9) that correlates with the level of inflammation in arthritis (Rheumatoid Arthritis). In this study mouse models with induced knee inflammation will be used. • Immobilizing contract agents on implantable human vein graft for enhancement of vessel wall in MR Imaging. PhD in Chemistry (Organic/Nanomaterials/Biology), with Prof. Vincent M. Rotello Feb-2011 University of Massachusetts-Amherst, Massachusetts, USA. • Developed a “chemical nose” technological platform for identifying and detecting cellular components such as proteins, bacteria and cancerous cells as potential medical tool for the early diagnosis of diseases and successful treatment of patients. • Designed, synthesized, and characterized new small bio-molecules library for biological applications. • Synthesized and characterized nanoparticles library for biological applications. • Engineered nanoparticles surface for biological applications. • Established a functionalized nanoparticle library for biological applications. • Studied nanoparticles’ charge effect on the plasma membrane, up-taking, bio-distribution and pharmacokinetic profile in vitro and in vivo models.
