Battle Buddies
WODs are shared suffering - doing something difficult and uncomfortable together. Incredible cohesion comes out of that. Partner WODs are demonstrations of mutual willingness to sacrifice comfort for a shared goal. It’s very revealing. Physiologically, it’s nothing like golf. But millennials are using it like golf.
We don’t predict the future: we uncover it. We live in a de-ritualized culture. Comfort drives out intensity. Ritual becomes habit. Sport becomes exercise.
