3. Input Devices
An Input Device sends information to a computer system. The
computer will then display or reproduce that information via one or
more output devices.
Or
An Input Device is a hardware device that transfers data to a
computer system and allows us to control it.
For example – Mouse, Keyboard etc.
5. Importance
It is essential to the overall functionality of a
computer because they allow users to add, edit, or
feed a new set of data or instructions to the
computer.
It enable users to interact with the computer by
either inputting numerals, characters, or gaming
instructions into the computer.
It read the user data and instructions and transform
them to equivalent internal binary code understood
by the computer.
6. Advantages
Enables fast entry of new text into a document.
Well tried technology and well known method of
entry.
Most people find them easy to use.
Easy to do verification check as data is entered, as it
appears on the screen simultaneously.
Some others are –
o Speed up the data collection.
o Reduction of errors.
o Combine the data as a transaction.
7. Disadvantages
Wireless input devices have higher input delay than most
wired devices.
It use up valuable desk space.
Some like mouse are difficult to use when there is no flat
surface.
Sometimes, sensors don’t give exact values if the sensor
is faulty or due to some external and internal effects.
Some others are such as without input devices,
o Computers are not able to receive information.
o Computers remain useless.
o Task performance will be difficult.
8. Conclusion
Input device is a part of computer hardware.
It allows user to enter and give instruction to be able
in process into the computer system.
It gets the data from the users and send it to the
computer. It is controlled by the computers.
