Founded in the year 2011. 3S Technical Services is a young company with rich experience in the
Maritime industry and its needs. They deal into the Sales, Service, after sales service support of a
wide range of Marine, Navigational, Communication and shipboard electronic systems. They
boast of a strong technical workforce across India who are committed to undertake Supply,
installation, commissioning & repairs of multi-brand equipment as well as Radio Surveys on

CHAPTER 1
Introduction
1.1 Overview of Industry:
M/s Shri Sai Samarth Technical Services was founded in Year 2011 and is also known
as ‘3STechS’ dealing into Ship repairs & Services, Turnkey Project Management and
maintenance of equipment under AMCs. ‘3STechS’ is an ISO 9001-2008 Company Certified by
DNV-GL and is also approved by Class ABS, BV & NKK for SRT Surveys. They are the only
company that offers its customers ‘Technical Training on Bridge Equipment’ at customer
premises which will help enhance the life of equipment ensuring minimum downtime and reduce
the overall operational cost.

1.1 Vision:

Product and Description
2.1 RADAR
Radio detection and ranging is a detection system that uses radio waves to determine the
range, angle, or velocity of objects. It can be used to detect aircraft, ships, spacecraft,
guided missiles, motor vehicles, weather formations, and terrain.

2.2 Gyrocompass
A gyrocompass is a type of non-magnetic compass which is based on a fast-spinning disc
and the rotation of the Earth to find geographical direction automatically. The use of a
gyrocompass is one of the seven fundamental ways to determine the heading of a vehicle.

2.3 Automatic Identification System (AIS)
The automatic identification system (AIS) is an automatic tracking system that
uses transponders on ships and is used by vessel traffic services (VTS). When
satellites are used to detect AIS signatures, the term Satellite-AIS (S-AIS) is used.
AIS information supplements marine radar, which continues to be the primary
method of collision avoidance for water transport.

2.4 Echosounder
Echo sounding is a type of sonar used to determine the depth of water by transmitting sound
waves into water. The time interval between emission and return of a pulse is recorded,
which is used to determine the depth of water along with the speed of sound in water at the
time.

International Manufacturers of Ship borne Electronic Systems.

3.3 Koden Electronics Co., Ltd
Koden Electronics was founded in 1947. The free and lively atmosphere generated from the
dawn of the company has been passed on to the current firm. While improving reliability and
quality on the basis of the ISO certificate which is an international standard of quality
assurance, Koden opens a new door towards the future with the unique products as well as
cultivated technology in hand.

Conclusion
On the whole, this internship was a useful experience. I have gained new knowledge, skills and met
many new people. I achieved several of my learning goals, however for some the conditions did
not permit. The internship was also good to find out what my strengths and weaknesses are. This helped me
to define what skills and knowledge I have to improve in the coming time.
