AlgoSource, is pleased to announce the start of its new production unit in
Guérande (France).
Since 1998, AlgoSource SAS produces Spirulina extracts containing Phycocyanin through its subsidiary
Alpha Biotech for its everyday consumers and professional distributors. Its flagship product called
Spirulysat ® is distributed in more than 500 retail outlets in France and several European countries
(Poland, Germany, Holland). The new site is in operation since November,16th and will have an annual
nominal capacity of 100 000 liters of extract. It will allow to quadruple the Spirulina extract production
in 2017, and ensure the sale development in new segments like drinks and petcare specialty in France
and other European countries (Spain, Italy, England).
Alpha Biotech is certified ISO9001 and ISO 14001. The new production unit, AlgoSource Products, will
help to reinforce quality procedures while delivering the quantities that AlgoSource is targeting. This
new unit is the first step of a business plan that represents a total of 3 million euros investment. A third
of this total is dedicated to the validation of products’ functional activities, new products and
functionalities development. This innovation effort is supported by BPI France. The rest of the
investment is dedicated to the production process.
AlgoSource offers its Phycocyanin enriched extracts not only as a final product in ampoules, plastic
vials and doses, but also in bulk for new formulations and conditioning systems. AlgoSource intends to
remain one of the leaders in the Phycocyanin based products in Europe. The implemented business
plan will allow to best serve its industrial clients and distributors, regarding both quality and price.
At the end of the plan in 2020, the annual production capacity will be raised up to 200 000 liters and
80 millions of ampoules.
AlgoSource’s activity reached 1,5 million euros with 20 employees in 2015. The group consolidated its
structure by becoming the sole shareholder of its subsidiaries Alpha Biotech and AlgoSource
Technologies on January, 1st 2016.
