Webinar on Adverse Outcome Pathway (AOPs) co-operative
activities between Scientific journals and the OECD
25 January 2022
The importance of collaboration
Science with impact in an era of information overload
2
Global scientific output
(indicated by the increased rate of papers published
in scientific journals that are accessible to a broader
range of scientists through world wide web
infrastructures)
Issue
Uptake of science in decision-making
contexts where science should have its
greatest impact

• Firstly, knowledge management is the essential linkage
that connects science with its potential impacts more
efficiently.
The Adverse Outcomes Pathway (AOP) Framework was proposed as
one example of a form of knowledge management that deliberately sets
out to gather, synthesise and organise knowledge about toxicology in
such a way as to make it more easily actionable by regulatory bodies
and policy makers.
• Secondly, the idea that professional life sciences
societies and their affiliated journals play a pivotal role in
enabling the forms of co-operation and collaboration
required for a closer relationship to be forged between
scientists and decision-makers across disciplines, domains,
and sectors.
