• Chapter one discussed “The Writing Process.”
• This chapter explains the following: audience, collaborative
writing, conclusions, context, defining terms, description,
ethics in writing, global communication, introductions,
organization, outlining, and more.
• I learned about how to write and the different types of writing
and also how to adapt to your audience’s needs and interests.

4. Chapter 1 (continued)
• Analysis Assignment 1 helped me to understand chapter one
by analyzing the effectiveness of instructions from a video of a
particular audience.
• Chapter one talks about “analyzing your audience’s needs”
and that’s exactly what this assignment was about and it
helped me to understand just how to do that.
• By doing this assignment I understood clearly how to see how
content is shaped due to the audience’s needs and how the
audience reacts to certain things that are a specific purpose.
• This learning matters because it helps you understand how to
write a good paper and how to grasp your audience’s
attention.

• Chapter two discussed “Workplace Technology.”
• This chapter explains the following: adapting to new
technologies, blogs and forums, e-mail, FAQ’s, instant
messaging, repurposing, selecting the medium and more.
• I learned about all the different types of technologies in the
workplace and the guidelines for using them efficiently and
effectively.

• Chapter four discussed “Correspondence”
• This chapter explains the following: acknowledgements,
adjustments, complaints, correspondence, cover letters, e-
mail, inquiries and responses, instant messaging and more.
• I leaned how to write a complaint letter and also how to write
memos and letters.

• WA1 Assignment helped me understand and also learn how
to write a complaint letter using letter format and also how to
change a sarcastic tone to a persuasive one.
• WA2 Assignment helped me to understand how to write a
memo properly.
• By doing these assignments I understood how to properly
write a letter, a memo and also how to properly write a
complaint letter.
• This learning matters because knowing how to write a well
written letter, complaint letter and memos can get you far in
life with jobs and also other professional settings as well as
unprofessional.
9. Chapter 10
• Chapter ten discussed “Style and Clarity”
• This chapter explains the following: abstract/concrete,
affectation, awkwardness, transition, tone, word choice,
“you” viewpoint, vague words, repetition and more.
• This learning matters because it is important to know how to
have a “clear and effective” writing style. Also, this chapter
helped me to understand how to construct clear and concise
sentences and paragraphs.
10. Chapter 7
• Chapter seven discussed “Design and Visuals”
• This chapter explains the following: drawings, flowcharts,
global graphics, graphs, headings, lists, tables, visuals,
organizational charts and more.
• I learned how to effectively use different types of charts and
also how to critique a website by giving suggestions on it’s
content, layout and visuals.

• Analysis Assignment 3 taught me how to analyze the content,
layout and design of a website and how to make certain
suggestions on how I would fix some of the things on the
website.
• By doing this assignment, I understood just how important
little details are to a website and how content is super
important as well as visuals and the layout you choose.
• This learning matters because it helps you determine a good
website from one that needs improvement and also how to
create your own.
12. Future
• I will use this learning in the future by being able to effectively
write letters, memos and complaint letters and also be able to
understand my audience’s views and needs and how to adapt
to what they want. Also, if I ever want or need to make a
website I certainly know how to now and I also will use this
learning in my career by writing letters to clients.
• Some goals that I will set will be to continue my learning with
writing and read the text book over again and challenge
myself to write awesome letters that are persuasive but not
efficient and to use the knowledge I’ve gained in order to
better my career by writing memos and letters.
