2. WHAT IS ERRORLESS LEARNING?
• Errorless Teaching is a teaching procedure in which the child is prompted to make
the correct response immediately, ensuring a correct response each time. The
prompt is then slowly faded in order to promote accuracy and independence.
3. PHYSICAL AND VERBAL PROMPTS
PHYSICAL
• Prompting through the use of
gestures and touch
• Ex: A client is learning how to follow
a sequence. Staff shows client the
sequence and then moves the client’s
hand in the same sequence
VERBAL
• Prompting through the use of sounds
and words.
• Ex: Client is learning to associate a
picture of a dog with the word dog.
Staff presents picture and says, “What
is this? Dog”, client then repeats
“Dog”.
4. PROMPT FADING
• Prompts are faded in order to increase the level of assistance required for a
correct response and promote independent behavior responses.
• Prompt fading procedures will always be included in a program. Follow the
prompt fading procedure written by the consultant.
• Prompt fading usually goes from most intrusive to least intrusive.
• Ex: Full Partial Independent (No prompt)
• Prompt fading varies from client to client and situation to situation, but will
always be detailed by consultant. Make sure to check first before beginning a
prompt fade.
