The city and country may be regarded as two poles in reference to one or other of which all
human settlement tend to arrange themselves. Sociological approach to the city may incidentally serve to call
attention to the interrelations between them emphasizing the peculion characteristics of the city. A city is defined as
a relatively large, dense and permanent settlement of social heterogeneous individuals
The personal traits occupations the cultural life and the ideas of the members of an urban community may be
expected to range between more widely separated poles and spatial segregation of individuals.
Juxtaposition of divergent personalities and modes of life tends to produce a relativistic perspective and a sense of
toleration of difference which leads to secularization of life, Frequent physical contact reserves of unattached
individuals toward on another gives rise to loneliness frequent movement of great numbers of individuals in a
congested habitant gives occasion to friction and irritation, basically on physical contact are close but our social
contacts are distant.
Interaction among variety of personality types in the urban breaks down this brings a great number of diverse
individuals and fluctuating status in differentiated and disassociated social groups that compose the social structure
of the urban life technique of living.
