1. COVER LETTER
I am Neus Ortega Juan, student of Biology of the University of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid). I have
done the last year of my degree, and this course I will finish the job Thesis.
I am 23 years old and I am from Ibiza (Spain). I wish to work as biologist. I am interested in
carrying out both laboratory work and field work as care and ecosystem studies, zoology, etc.
In connection with laboratory work, I did in my university practices in all subjects such as
microbiology, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, Organography, chemistry, paleontology,
anthropology, ecology, animal and plant physiology. In connection with the fieldwork, I made
practice of geology, forestry zoology, ecology, conservation and restoration of ecosystems and
botany.
I feel very motivated to learn and improve my knowledge in Biology, especially learn and
experience what is to work both in a laboratory and field work in mine or in a different country.
I consider myself a woman with initiative, committed, hardworking and always ready to improve
and learn. I speak English, Spanish, Catalan and French.
I have experience abroad: in December 2015 I started an Internship in Centre Hospitalier
Regionale de Lille (practising and improving my laboratory skills in the Parasitology and Mycology
department; while I improve my French). The summer 2015 I did an internship at a Owls
Recovery Center (Brinzal) in Madrid, where I alternated working with animals and laboratory,
usually performing stool cultures for infection control. The summer 2014 I worked in the
"Botanical Garden José Celestino Mutis" Bogota performing native flora studies. Finally, winter
2014 I did an exchange "ERASMUS" in Finland and did an internship at the laboratory of the
University of Finland Oriental-UEF, conducting a study on the variation depending on factors of
different genotypes of Betula pendula.
I like to learn and improve in all areas and fields related to Biology and all the possibilities that are
submitted are welcome.
I believe that I adapt well to living in other countries. I have traveled extensively (virtually all of
Europe, Tunisia, Mexico and Colombia), and have lived in other Spainish cities and other
countries like Colombia (Bogota), England (London), Finland (Joensuu) and France (Lille). And
I'm hopeful of being able to live in many other countries and enrich their cultures.
I would also like to take several courses to specialize me a bit more on what I like and do not rule
out the possibility of a Master.
