2 aspects of a verb:
• Simple
• Perfect

3. The simple aspect is used to describe
an action that is neither on-going nor
completed.
• Simple Past
– Describes a past event.
Example:
I went to the mall with my family every weekend
last month.

4. Past form of regular verbs:
1. add –ed at the end of the word.
Example: wanted, stayed, fixed
2. verbs that end with e, only add –d.
Example: liked, loved, hated
3. If a verb ends with consonant +y, change
y to i and add –ed.
Example: cry-cried, dry-dried

5. 4. If a verb ends with vowel +y; just add ed.
Example: play-played; enjoy-enjoyed
5. If one syllable verb ends in Consonant-
Vowel-Consonant or CVC, double the
last letter and add –ed
Example: stop-stopped, clap-clapped, beg-begged

6. Past form of irregular verbs:
It doesn’t follow any rules.
