This reflective entry summarizes Nathaniel Collier's AP Biology career research assignment. The assignment required researching a potential career through surveys, research, and an interview. Nathaniel learned that having a plan is important to achieve career goals, and that strengths and weaknesses must be identified. He performed well in researching a career and conducting an interview, but could improve his resume and cover letter by gaining more experience in community and school activities.

1. Describe the assignment including the tools and process.
This assignment is for the research of a possible career that one may want to seek. Also it
gives insight of the individual on the characteristics that they display and what personality they
have. The finding of this information was done through various ways. Surveys to find out what are
possible career choices, research of the career that fitted best and an interview of someone in that
career were all used to see if the career chosen was something the individual wanted to stick with.
The process went from what the individual already possessed to what the individual needs to
posses for the career path they want to take.
2. Write about what you have learned from this assignment. Describe the skills and competencies
demonstrated by this assignment.
From this assignment I have learned in order for me to have the career path I want there
has to be some kind of plan for me to follow. Furthermore, I learned that there is no way for me to
achieve what I want to accomplish if I am not prepared. From this assignment I learned my
strengths and definitely my weaknesses. I now know what I need to work on to try and fulfill my
career choice and how it needs to be done. Lastly, I learned that for me to gain any position in the
work world that I have to have as many good characteristics I possibly can, something that will set
me apart from the rest.
3. Evaluate your performance on the assignment. Identify what you did well and what could be
improved.
Overall, I think I did well on this assignment. I included everything that was supposed to
be incorporated into this project with the most quality research I could find. I think I did good on the
career research assignment and the career interview. These two assignments were very important
for me to give my total attention because they basically dealt with my life. I wanted to figure out as
much as I could about a possible career journey that I may be soon on. What could be improved
were my sample cover letter and my resume. I believed that if I have been aprt of more community
projects and school activities my resume could look better. Also I think my sample letter could
have had a little bit more detailed.
