2. WHAT I HAVE LEARNED?
By practicing all the new guidance strategies that I
have acquired this semester, I have learned that the
most important thing is to build trust with the
children.
3. TRUST HELPED ME TO LEARN WHEN I
COULD HAVE DONE SOMETHING BETTER
IN TERMS OF TALKING TO THE CHILDREN
OR USING A DIFFERENT GUIDANCE
STRATEGY.
Trust help the children learn more about themselves
and about their student ECE.
4. I HAVE LEARNED THAT ACTIVE LISTENING
REQUIRES GREAT PATIENCE.
By learning how to listen to the children’s feeling
and then restating it to them was a bit of a
challenge, however, I believe that at the end of the
semester I had gained a great deal of knowledge
on actively listening to children.
This was due to hard work and a great teacher.
5. I LEARNED THAT CHILDREN LIKE TO SHARE
THEIR FEELINGS.
Children are full of energy and love to talk to who
ever is willing to listen to them. I learned that during
placement, the children loved to talk about how
they felt and what was bothering them.
6. I LEARNED THAT THERE ARE VERY POSITIVE WAYS
IN WHICH CHILDREN CAN EXPRESS THEMSELVES
Talking
Listening
Learning to come up with solutions to a problem
(Negotiations)
7. I PLAN ON USING ALL MY NEW FOUND SKILLS
IN MY NEXT PLACEMENT
This can be done by practicing all that I have
learned and by putting them to use in my life. I have
learned many things by taking this guidance
course. I can’t wait to see what the new semester
holds.
