Smriti Mandhana contracted Brisbane Heat: WBBL
Smriti Mandhana, the India ladies’ opener, has been contracted up by way of Brisbane heat for
the second season of Australia’s ladies’ big Bash League (WBBL), the franchise declared on
Tuesday (September 27).The 20-year old, who is well-known for her stylish batting skills,
impressed one and all when she scored her maiden ODI hundred against the Southern Stars in
Hobart during India’s tour of Australia in February.
She also played a vital role in India’s first-ever series win against the hosts by playing a vital
knock of 29 and 22 not out at the Adelaide Oval and Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG)
correspondingly in the T20I series. It feels great to be a part of Big Bash, after the signing. I have
always been looking forward to playing in that tournament. And getting this opportunity to
participate at such a young age and getting to gain good experience from it, will help me
massively in the future. I am very blessed to have been signed with them, she announced.
