organization. The people we manage become our

Because when groups are operating they can solve
more complex problems and can make better
decisions.

The One Minute Manager simply
explains the four stages of
development of a team and different
leadership styles required in each
stage namely
1. Orientation Stage
2. Dissatisfaction Stage
3. Production Stage
4. Integration Stage
ORIENTATION STAGE
First stage of of team is Orientation
Stage where productivity is low because
team members are not clear about goals
and have minimal knowledge and skill
about how to function as a team.
Moral of the team is high as every one is
exited about being a part of a team and
has high expectations.
In this stage members need more
direction.
DISSATISFACTION STAGE
At this stage initial high expectations of
the team are seen as being more
difficult to achieve.
At this stage moral of the team is very
low and team is struggling with the
task as well as how to work together.
INTEGRATION STAGE
In this stage team learns to
work together resolving
differences and developing
confidence and morale so they
need support and
encouragement.
PRODUCTION STAGE
At this stage productivity is high as
team member have knowledge and
skill.
Morale is very high.
In this stage leaders can stand aside
or join them and let them work with
minimal interference.
LEADERSHIP STYLES
Effective leaders change their
leadership style depending on the
stage of development of group.
Because at different stages members
need different type of help from their
leaders.
