To whom it may concern,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for Dr Muhammad
Zahid. While I currently serve as Professor of Medicine and Director of Asthma at
National Jewish Health in Denver since September 2012, I previously served as
Associate Director of the Brigham & Women’s Hospital Asthma Research Center at
Harvard Medical School where I mentored and supervised Zahid in his capacity as a
Research Fellow and Post-doctoral Research Associate. Dr Zahid is an E.C.F.M.G
certified international medical graduate with an extensive background in clinical
research. He has held various positions at institutions in the US and abroad and has also
obtained a Masters in Public Health degree from Nova Southeastern University, Florida,
where he matriculated with honors.
As Associate Director of the BWH Asthma Research Center, I mentored Zahid for more
than 5 years, and found him to be intelligent, hardworking, detail-oriented and
demonstrating scruples and high ethical standards. His ability to follow study protocols,
to establish a rapport with study subjects, and to adhere to a methodical approach was
outstanding. His subjects always ranked him highly on exit evaluations.
Zahid has developed a good understanding of writing protocols, SOPs, Data Safety
Monitoring Plans, and Manuals of Study Procedures. He has learned to manage and
monitor multicenter clinical trials. His contributions to the research projects have been
essential for the success of the projects we did. He has the ability to multitask and
independently manage studies sponsored by the NIH, industry, as well as investigator-
initiated studies.
Zahid has distinguished himself in the area of research ethics and regulatory affairs. His
service as a member of the Partners IRB has demonstrated a motivation to set high
standard for quality research and to protect subject’s rights and welfare in clinical
research. He effectively works with others and is always willing to assume different
responsibilities. While he has a quiet demeanor, his pleasant personality enables him to
get along with and maintain professional relationships with seniors, colleagues and
patients. I am confident that he shall be an asset to any team. I strongly support his career
2. advancement and wish him the very best. Please feel free to contact me if you have any
further questions.
Sincerely,
Michael Wechsler, MD
