1. How does your product use or
challenge conventions and how
does it represent social groups or
issues?
By Muhammad Fasih
2. Social Issues
The Social Issue we chose is not very common in
this modern society, but it is quite popular in rural
areas of Sindh in Pakistan.
When we were doing our research in this Issue we
found that about 6 million of Pakistanis don't know
about this term, Haq Bukshi (No right to wed). The
best way to create an awareness of this issue is to
represent this through a film.
3.
4. Haq Bukshi (No right to wed) is the main issue
we are addressing in our opening scene.
5. During our Researching
Period, I red many articles on
the internet about this issue.
Some popular Media groups,
such as Daily Times has
written an article on this, which
inspired us to narrate this issue
through our opening scene.
I have seen many documentary
videos on Youtube highlighting
this issue in Pakistan.
6. What is our Social Issue?
Our Opening Scene is based on a social
Issue of “Haq Bukshish (No right to wed)” It
is mostly seen in the rural areas of
Pakistan. Haq Bukshish is an act of
marriage with the Holy Quran (Holy Book
of Islam) of a girl.In this type of marriage,
young girls are asked to dedicate
themselves to memorising the Holy
Quran.Women who are married to the Holy
Quran are not allowed to have a
relationship with a man or to marry
anybody. This usually happens to keep the
wealth and property in the family.
7. How did we represented this Social
Issue?
We felt that this issue is quite
complicated as it relates some
Religious Concepts which are
misused by the society, so we spend
a lot of our time in Research Work to
gain perfection in our subject.
We highlighted this issue with a
melodrama storyline and maintained it
in such a way that the issue could be
communicated easily.
We kept the conventions of our film in
our mind so that it doest go against it.
8. Conventions
We generally received the
traditions from this Hollywood
Drama Film, The Beaver. One
of the significant purpose for
this was the circumstance of
the suicide as a result of
wretchedness and family
issues are fundamentally the
same as our opening
sequence.
9. We can see comparable
thought on the scene in this
Hollywood Drama Film "12
Years A Slave." Specially our
opening scene, where the girl is
demonstrated a slave of her
dad which can be found in this
motion picture too.
10. Costume
We matched our conventions with “12 Years a Slave” as it
has shown cultural dresses. We have also shown the
Sindhi cultural dresses.
11. We likewise alluded a Bollywood Movie Manje-Daro, which
demonstrates the sindhi culture. This motion picture made
things simple for as we could contrast and relate our
generation with it.
