WHAT IS NUTRITION
 Nutrition is the study of how food and drink affects
our bodies with special regard to the essential
nutrients necessary to support human health. It
looks at the physiological and biochemical
processes involved in nourishment and how
substances in food provide energy or are converted
into body tissues. These nutrients, which are the
source of energy for our bodies, are classed as:
carbohydrates, fats, fibre, minerals, proteins,
vitamins and water. Good nutrition means obtaining
the right amount of nutrients from healthy foods in
the right combinations.
INTRODUCTION
 Nutrition is about eating a healthy and balanced
diet. Food and drink provide the energy and
nutrients you need to be healthy. Understanding
these nutrition terms may make it easier for you to
make better food choices.
 The nutrients from the food we put in our bodies
give our cells the ability to perform their necessary
functions.
 In other words, giving our bodies the right nutrients
can help you grow to a healthier version of yourself.
IMPORTANCE
 Health is one of most valuable things we have. In
turn, the key to good health is proper nutrition.
Many people do not attach particular importance to
the food they eat everyday. Unfortunately, people
have forgotten that satisfying hunger is an ordnary
vital need. On the shelves you can see a variety of
foods that not only are beneficial, but also can
cause harm to the human body/ Many foods
contain artifical coloring, preservatives,
monsosodium glutamate, flavors, and other
ingredients that are harmful to our health.
LACK OF NUTRITION
 Poor nutrition can lead to a lack of energy, digestive
problems, food allergies, weight gain, depression
and anxiety as well as many of today’s most
prevalent chronic diseases like coronary heart
disease, cancer and ADHA. Having nutritional
knowledge and making informed choices about the
foods you eat can help you achieve optimum health
over your lifetime.
 Poor nutrition is caused by putting the wrong types
of food in your body that do not have the nutrients
that we need most. These foods include ones that
are low in fiber and vitamins or are high in fat,
sugar, and salt. Poor nutrition can also be caused
by overeating.
FOOD CYCLE
 Nutrition is also about why we choose to eat the
foods we do, even when we know they may not be
good for us, what is going on at a cellular level and
how that affects what we crave and therefore set up
food cycles that are unhealthy or damaging.
Nutritionists advise people on what to eat and how
to modify their diet so they can maintain or restore
optimal health or help relieve ill health and combat
disease.
WEIGHT - WHAT TO DO AFTER
 Let’s begin with the most obvious effect of food
which is your waistline. But there’s more to trying
different exercises than just avoiding boredom. Our
bodies pay a price for feeling comfortable with the
same movements, and that price is the failure to
see results in our fitness levels.
 Getting more out of your food to achieve a healthy
weight loss can be done by choosing whole foods.
Foods that help you stay fuller longer and are
loaded with nutrients include the following: Leafy
greens, lean beef sirloin, salmon, boiled potatoes,
and chicken breast.
HOW DOES POOR NUTRITION AFFECT YOU?
 Poor nutrition can affect your health in many ways,
not only can it lead to certain diseases but it can
also affect your mental health, energy levels,
complexion, and your overall well being. In the
short term, poor nutrition can contribute to stress,
tiredness, and our capacity to work.
 Furthermore, it can lead to:
 high blood pressure
 heart disease and stroke
 type-2 diabetes
 some cancers
 eating disorders
HOW TO DIVERSIFY YOUR WORKOUTS FOR
THE BEST RESULTS, 3 EASY WAYS
 Working out is pretty much like anything in life -
without diversification, it gets boring over time. All of
us start off feeling amped up. But as weeks go by,
we get used to the movements. What was once a
challenge will no longer be.
 The first is core exercises engaging the muscles in
your pelvis and abdomen doesn’t just give you a
slimmer figure, it also develops your balance and
achieves a healthy back.
 Second is hiking, hiking is a totally different workout
from walking. You may be engaging your legs for
both workouts but in hiking, your body gets
challenged more.
GOOD NUTRITION
 Good nutrition means your body gets all the nutrients,
vitamins, and minerals it needs to work its best. Plan
your meals and snacks to include nutrient-dense foods
that are also low in calories.
 Most people know good nutrition and physical activity
can help maintain a healthy weight. But the benefits of
good nutrition go beyond weight. Good nutrition can
help:
 reduce the risk of some diseases
 improve your well-being
 improve your ability to recover from illness or injury
 increase your energy level
CONCLUSION
 Good food choices have a positive impact on health
and poor diets have negative long-term effects.
