for face-to-face instruction, as well.

2. STEP-BY-STEP LESSON PLAN

Step 2 (7 min)
Slide 02 with the three idioms related to time and meanings.
Have students read the idioms and guess what they mean.
Matching exercise. Students match the idioms and their meanings individually.
ex2. students complete the sentences with the idioms.
Correct the exercises.
Step 1 (5 - 7 min)
Slide 01 (genial.ly presentation LINK)
Screen-share the idiom; KILL TIME.
Ask students if they know what it means. If they don’t, ask them to guess. Write
their guesses on the board.
Have a vote on the most plausible meaning, but DON'T give the right definition.
They are going to discover it by doing the exercise in step 2.
Step 3 (10 min)
Slide 03. Students watch the story in the video (edited music video with different
background music.) In the video, the 4 friends make a time capsule. Ask your
students if they know what it is.
In pairs (breakout rooms), students write a short narrative retelling the story and
including one of the three idioms they worked with in step 2.

Step 4 (7 min)
Students read their narratives, (or share them to a collaborative google doc for
everyone to read)
Have a vote on the most creative, the funniest, etc.
Step 5 (7 min)
Slide 03 with incomplete sentences from the song.
Students complete the sentences with their own ideas, individually.
You can hide the TV full of stations that tell you how to _________.
Being rich was ________ and a cheap six-pack
Yeah, the shine of a new summer, barefoot baseball with my __________.
Have students read their sentences.
Step 6 (5 min)
Play the song and have students write down the real sentences. (play the song 2x)

Correct the exercise.
3. Step 7 (10 - 15 min)
Work with the lyrics. Interactive worksheet LINK or pdf worksheet LINK)
Students read the lyrics and complete them with the words in the box.. Then,
Listen to the song and check!
