2. STEP-BY-STEP LESSON PLAN
Step 1 (7 min)
GENYAL.LY PRESENTATION LINK
Show the first slide with the 5 pictures. Have different students
describe them.
Ask: “Which of the 5 pictures is the most fun? Why?
If you could be one of the people in the picture, who would you
like to be? Why?
Have students share their ideas and opinions
Step 2 (5 min)
Tell them the pictures are from a music video. Ask them: Can
you identify the song or the singer? What kind of music do you
think it is? Sad, happy, fast, slow, music genre, etc?
Step 3 (20 min)
Tell students they are going to watch the music video for the
song to check their ideas. However, before watching the video,
they are going to PLAY a music video lottery.
INSTRUCTIONS: Divide students into teams. Show the second
slide with the pictures. Explain that only 5 of those things will
appear on the video. Their task is to choose them and come up
with reasons why they chose them. (The aim here is for them to
use their imagination to come up with creative reasons why
those things would appear on the video). Tell them that the
crazier the better! Put the groups in breakout rooms and give
them 5 min to choose the pictures. When the time’s up, Have
the groups’ captains send their list of words via chat box, for
you to check later who got more right things. Have students
from the groups explain their choices.
Step 4 (5 min)
Play the music video for them to check! VIDEO LINK
Things NOT in the video: (skateboard, ball, dog, cat, cake)

Step 5 (15 min)
Watch & Catch Activity
Tell students they are going to WATCH a video with 4
excerpts from the same music video, and in each part, they
have to identify – CATCH– something visual in the video e.g.
find a number or an animal, and also listen to something in
the lyrics: e.g. listen to adjectives. There are 4 parts, and before
each one, there are instructions to what the students have to
catch. The excerpts are recorded 3 times in a row, so they
have 3 chances to catch the things. For each right item, the
teams get one point. The team with more points wins!
How to set up the activity:. Divide the teams (it can be the
same teams from the last activity). Remind them not to say
the answers now! They must write their answers down to
discuss with their teammates later.
Play the video (pause it on each video instruction and make
sure to review the things they’re supposed to see or find
before they watch it. For example: ask students if they
remember some prepositions and ask them to give
examples. Repeat the process for the 4 parts. VIDEO LINK
Check the groups’ answers and assign points. The group with
more points is the winner.
