The document compares the Aztec and Inca empires, which existed from the 1200s-1520s and 1430s-1530s respectively. Both empires expanded their territories, though the Aztec empire was based more heavily on expansion. The Aztecs also practiced human sacrifice on a vastly larger scale than any other civilization in history. Students are instructed to create half-page SPICE charts for each empire's social structure, political structure, interaction with the environment, culture, and economy based on source material, then note the key similarities and differences between the two civilizations.
