About Mahatma Gandhi International School (MGIS)

Mahatma Gandhi International School (MGIS) founded in 1998 by the educationalists Dr. Pascal Chazot and Ms. Anju Musafir, is a pioneering
school with many precedence. It is the first school in India approved to deliver the BTEC program. It was the first authorized International
Baccalaureate World School in Gujarat, INDIA.

MGIS is a successful Public-Private Partnership model where both the municipal authorities and educationalists collaborated to create an
international school in the city of Ahmedabad.

The school counts approximately 260 students from all socio-economic classes of the local community as well as expatriate children seeking an
internationally recognized education. The Mahatma Gandhi International School community is run by a democratic self-government in which the
children are looked upon, and consulted as valued equals. The student body of MGIS is intentionally diverse. One fifth of our students come from
socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds; the foundation bears the costs of these children’s education. We also integrate children facing
difficulty in learning into the classroom.

Our pedagogy is experiential, and utilizes the body, all five senses, space and movement as well as abstract thinking. Through our project-based
approach, learning is guided not by subjects, but by challenges and the need to overcome them. Learners construct their projects and confront
problems that help them develop creative problem solving a much-needed skill in later professional life. This founding philosophy is on the same
tangent as that of BTEC which promotes hands on experience to acquire and apply real life knowledge.

SVEEP in brief:
The Gujarat Government is in the process of preparing to conduct the Legislative Assembly Elections for the
State Of Gujarat . It is their mandate to take up voter’s

education through various means in the State under the aegis of SVEEP or Systematic Voters Education for
Electoral Participation. In this context the BTEC students First batch 2011- 2012 took up the project of creating
30 – 60 minutes quickies along the guidelines of BTEC. The adds reflect the following
  1. Importance of democracy
  2. Importance of Registration before voting
 3. What is an EPIC card
4.The over all importance of Voting
 5. The Process of Voting

Advertisements
Made:
There are a total of ten advertisements made by the students of Mahatma Gandhi International School to
participate in the SVEEP project. The advertisements are not made by Professionals who charge by the hour.
The difference is that they are made by the BTEC students barely in their 17 and 18 years, who are undergoing
Vocational Training at MGIS for BTEC( Business in Technical Education Council) in “Creative Media and
Production “These advertisements portray a very clear and intensive inclination of the upcoming generation to
bring in the change be it the society or be it the Political system. These students have different career paths like
Chandrika Makwana is doing BA in English at St Xavier’s College, Ansh Baid is pursuing Economics while
Sandeep aspires to be an Actor from NSD Delhi yet they have participated in the project. This should be what
education should build in a child, a sensitiveness to think beyond your own self! to think for your country to
contribute to the Election process.
The add made by Sandeep “ The poem placed in the opening of the Document depicts a clear idea that the
upcoming generation is not only wants to study and get out of the country, fly of to US or UK for a bright future.
They are also thinking of the voting importance, the essence of Democracy and a brighter future for “ Bharat “
