“The first three black belts were graded to
Shodan 6 April 1989. Moses Kgosibodiba,
Jonah Madibela and Ranko Boniface Mot-
lalekgosi. All went into teaching profession,
secondary schools in 1988/9. In 1990 we in-
troduced Secondary Schools Karate Champi-
onships. Osu!”
“I had the honor to receive instruction under
the late Grandmaster Ramon Lono Jr of Ko-
denkan Danzan Ryu Jujitsu. I studied Jujitsu
and shiatsu (healing massage). Same period
1985-86. Remember the Nkomati Accord and
the student strike that led to closure of Uni-
versity of Botswana.
“The period 1984 to 1986 I trained under
various sensei. With and under the late Sifu
Tom Tladi of Sailong Kung Fu (JKD), Com-
mon room 458. There was also Sensei Nathan
Kgabi of Sankukai Kan. Sensei Kgabi was in
the panel that graded me to Shodan. Osu!”
Grading was a rare occasion due to the un-
availability of instructors and regular dojo
instruction. I started training in 1979 and only
graded in 1988 from white to blue after I be-
came a student of Hanshi Dr. Patrick Mak-
gabenyana, 8th Dan.
“Benjamin Kabo Masunga, Ranko Boniface
Motlalekgosi, Lekoko Kenosi, Moses
“topsoil” Kgosibodiba, John Moreti and oth-
ers were dedicated men. .”
“We contributed funds, fundraised and were
able to link up with other karate schools,
Shotokan and Shukokai. During this sojourn
as students, we were able to seek help in the
masters of the sport from visiting instructors
or teachers from BDF heaquarters and the
likes of Sensei Nathan Kgabi. .”
“Hanshi Dr. Patrick Makgabenyana, my
greatest Sensei of all time. He never missed
training and most of all he exposed us to vari-
ous external, local and international, instruc-
tors and we were happily graded! Introduced
the Oikado Way to us”.

“The turning point was in 1986 at the Uni-

nate to find committed minds in the likes of
Benjamin Kabo Masunga, Ranko Boniface

“Now that I'm gown up, I know that tem-

mind, there are many possibilities, but in
the expert's there are a few!

Motlalekgosi to building a team of educated
martial artists who were not dogmatic about
style inspired me a great deal.”
“You assisted by Shihan Motlalekgosi will

Martial Arts Summary
The emblems and logos that identify us and
his Tiger Dojo Group Botswana and the
Grassroots Out-Reach Program.
Kyoshi Moses Kgosibodiba began martial arts
training in 1979 whilst at high school. His initial
eight years were spent without an instructor. Not
many would have had the courage to continue
training. He had trained under various instruc-
tors and dojos.
In 1986 he came under the instructorship of
Grandmaster Dr. Patrick Solly Makgabenyana
whilst at the University of Botswana up to pre-
sent. Together with Grandmaster we saw him
introduce the Secondary Schools Karate Champi-
onships from 1989 – 2000. I note with awe that he
has beyond odds single handedly ran the impossi-
ble task of organizing and running the affairs of
the Secondary Schools Karate Championships.
It is through such commitment into the develop-
ment of the martial arts at grass roots level that I
have the privilege to present this martial arts pro-
file of him. This profile emanates from his various
nationwide training and coaching clinics and his
current mandate to take Oikado to the next level .
This presentation also forms part requirements
for admittance into higher levels of Black Belt
and for admittance into the chartered member-
ships and instructorship and into various interna-
tional organizations and martial arts schools.
We wish him the best in his continued study,
learning, research and practice into the fields of
martial arts. Certainly in his assignment and task
to take Oikiru Ryu Karate Jitsu Do ( OIKADO)
to the next level and to the world. Most impor-
tantly to start a new Generation of Oikado, Bot-
swana & World-wide.
Osu!

  • 38. 38 Kyoshi Moses Kgosibodiba , 6th Dan Martial Arts Summary The emblems and logos that identify us and his Tiger Dojo Group Botswana and the Grassroots Out-Reach Program. Kyoshi Moses Kgosibodiba began martial arts training in 1979 whilst at high school. His initial eight years were spent without an instructor. Not many would have had the courage to continue training. He had trained under various instruc- tors and dojos. In 1986 he came under the instructorship of Grandmaster Dr. Patrick Solly Makgabenyana whilst at the University of Botswana up to pre- sent. Together with Grandmaster we saw him introduce the Secondary Schools Karate Champi- onships from 1989 – 2000. I note with awe that he has beyond odds single handedly ran the impossi- ble task of organizing and running the affairs of the Secondary Schools Karate Championships. It is through such commitment into the develop- ment of the martial arts at grass roots level that I have the privilege to present this martial arts pro- file of him. This profile emanates from his various nationwide training and coaching clinics and his current mandate to take Oikado to the next level . This presentation also forms part requirements for admittance into higher levels of Black Belt and for admittance into the chartered member- ships and instructorship and into various interna- tional organizations and martial arts schools. We wish him the best in his continued study, learning, research and practice into the fields of martial arts. Certainly in his assignment and task to take Oikiru Ryu Karate Jitsu Do ( OIKADO) to the next level and to the world. Most impor- tantly to start a new Generation of Oikado, Bot- swana & World-wide.
