BENEFITS OF TAEKWONDO
Learning taekwondo is a great way to enhance your well-being and fitness, such as
flexibility, motor coordination, speed and accuracy with your body. Not only is taekwondo a
positive impact to your physical wellness, mental sharpness and wellness is also improved.
Some aspects include attention span, awareness of your body, spatial awareness, and
reduction of stress levels. In addition, positive characteristics of you can be enhanced as you
develop discipline, respect and perseverance through consistent training.
With taekwondo at UTBT, you will be able to reach limits beyond your expectations! Aim to compete in
para-taekwondo, a division for athletes with any form of disability, including special needs.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The UTBT taekwondo program will be catered to students with special needs. It will begin in
September and it will be situated at the UTBT center upstairs (Room 206). For your convenience, the
taekwondo program will occur 3 days a week during Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The time will be
after school from 3:30 pm – 4:30 pm.

HEAD INSTRUCTOR
Instructor Jasmine Tsang – Certified 2nd Dan Black Belt
Instructor Tsang professionally taught taekwondo since 2011 at Master Teo’s
Taekwondo school to students aging from youth to older adults. She also taught
students with special needs with care and patience. During her years of training, she
has participated in many competitions and accumulated awards. Instructor Tsang is
passionate and motivated to provide high quality training and education to students to
ensure excellent results and progression of her students.
Currently, Instructor Tsang is an undergraduate student at the University of Toronto Scarborough,
pursuing a BSc in mental health with a high level of interest in a career with special needs. Experienced and
knowledgeable for individuals with special needs, Instructor Tsang is able to effectively apply her skills from
martial arts and mental health centers to teach taekwondo at UTBT with excellence.
