The next NAMIWalks event, which is NAMI's largest national fundraising event for mental health awareness, will be held on September 17, 2016 in San Jose, California. 2. Introduction
• An outpatient rehabilitation center in Irvine, California,
Morningside Recovery is a provider of services for alternative
addiction with co-occurring mental health problems.
Morningside also supports the National Alliance on Mental
Illness (NAMI), the country’s largest grassroots organization
for mental health. NAMI’s programs receive support for their
mission-driven work through regularly organized
NAMIWalks.
NAMIWalks serves as NAMI’s most successful event for
fundraising and health awareness nationwide, in addition to
one of the organization’s largest in the country. The walk
serves as a public display of support for individuals that
regularly face mental health challenges, and advocates for a
change in perception towards mental illness.

3. NAMIWalks
• Walkathons hosted by NAMIWalks occur throughout the country
and welcome participants to donate to events happening in their
area.
The next California NAMIWalks event will take place on September
17, 2016 at the Arena Green West in San Jose. The event consists of
a 5k walk with a fundraising goal of $160,000. Participants may
register as a volunteer, walker, or team captain, and those unable to
attend in person may register as a virtual walker. Furthermore, in-
person walkers may create their own team, join an existing one, or
participate on an individual basis. Registrants can set their own
fundraising goals, and each person who raises $100 or more will
receive an event T-shirt.
