4. The trick is that a lot of advice in this area attempt to change you
right now. Its true that the present is the most pressing, but
change can only result if you develop habits that occur in the
future.
A great goal with imagination is to help you develop practices and
rituals that bring you both peace and success in your daily life. This
doesnt mean that you won’t have bad days, it means that you will
feel a regular sense of balance.

Lets say that you a taking a road trip but your car plops out in a dark, deserted
highway. Your radiator hose springs a leak so your antifreeze starts to leaks out.
Your car starts to overheat and you are stranded!

7. What can you do? All I can
say is remember

8. If you area a little bit older know
you know what I’m talking about.
Macgyver is an amazing dude. He
can take a match, a rubber band,
and a straw and build a muscle
car. Ok he’s not that good, but
close.
Hes a great example of
being creative in a
practical sense. His
clever use of ordinary
materials to get himself
out of dangerous
situations was
legendary.

9. So lets pull a Macgyver and get ourselves out of
this jam we are in. You check your car and
pockets. You find a piece of chewing gum and a
bunch of pencils, and a comb.
You have an idea! You chew the gum and place it
over the hole in the rad.
Success! You should be able to limp along to the
nearest gas station for a better repair job.

10. This type of thinking is a very useful skill to
develop as being practical can be a lost art in
our modern world. The whole field of science
is built on the premise of disproving and trying
new methods and ways to do old things.
Imagination is the fuel that progress is built
upon.

11. Beware of these traps:
“There is nothing new under the
sun.”
“Someone is selling what I want,
there is no room for me to do it.”
“I’m stuck. I tried a few things and I
can’t move forward. It’s hopeless.”

12. These lines of thinking are not only
untrue, they are destructive. If you have
ever had these thoughts, don’t despair,
they are pretty common. It may just be a
symptom of ingrained habits that don’t
use their aspects of creativity and
imagination properly.

13. These ideas can be
overcome, at times it
may just be a desire
to control situations
too much.

14. Give Creativity a Chance
The term “think outside of the box” is a great
one for you to remember in daily life. Often
times the right answer to an issue might be
sitting right under your nose. But like most
things, your action trumps ideas any day of
the week. The important thing is to weight
the risks before you jump into a particular
action. Do the benefits outweigh the risks?

15. A good exercise to help you hone your
creativity is to journal, or brain dump
your ideas. Take 10 minutes per day
and write down your thoughts, feelings
and aspirations. This gives your mind a
chance to store thoughts, feelings and
ideas that could be lost.

16. So try it out. Take a time out to try and look at
your challenges and goals from a different angle. Is
there another approach or tool that you can use to
be more effective? Are there things that you
