2. History of Southeast University (SEU)
Southeast University (SEU) was established in June 2002 as a private university under the
Private University Act 1992. The president of Bangladesh is the chancellor. The university is run
by a number of statutory bodies as required under the provisions of the Private University Act,
1992.
Mission
The mission of SEU is to provide higher education to students of Bangladesh at an affordable
cost, keeping in view the challenges of the twenty first century. And this mission will be
achieved by imparting world class education and providing research facilities so that the students
can attain their full intellectual, social and personal potentials. SEU is committed to develop
human capital by cultivating creative thinking in individuals. It offers education through both
campus and ICT-based online modes of teaching.
Vision
The vision of Southeast University (SEU) is to flourish as a prestigious seat of learning in the
South Asian region. As a center of excellence, it aims at attracting students from all countries of
the region.
Faculty
Faculty members of Southeast University are qualified, experienced in teaching and research.
They have diverse academic and professional credentials from both home and abroad to enrich
the classroom teaching.
The Student-Faculty ratio is around 20:1 that facilitates close interaction with their teachers and
peers.

Now present in Southeast University of over 300 staffs.

Southeast university is one of the fastest growing private universities in Bangladesh with current
enrollment of over 12500 students.
