Portfolio management is the management of various financial
assets, which comprise the portfolio.
Main objective is to maximize portfolio returns at the same
time minimizing the portfolio risk by diversification.
A professional who manages other people’s or institution’s
investment portfolio with the profitability, growth and risk
minimization, is known as a portfolio manager.

8. Types of Portfolio Management
1. Discretionary portfolio management services
2. Nondiscretionary portfolio management services.
In this type of services, the client parts with his money in favor of
manager, who in return, handles all the paper work, makes all the
decisions and gives a good return on the investment and for this
he charges a certain fees.
The manager function as a counsellor, but the investor is free to
accept or reject the manager’s advice; the manager for a services
charge also undertakes the paper work.
9. Objective of Internship
To enhance knowledge about financial services industry.
To get the overall knowledge of securities and investment.
To know how the investment made in different securities minimize the risk
and maximize the returns.
To know how different companies managing their portfolio i.e. when and
which sector they are investing.
To get the knowledge of investment decision and asset allocation
10. Methodology used here is working under guidance of superior
and on the job training.
Rotating responsibility areas in different department i.e. Marketing,
Financing, and Tele-calling etc.
Face-to-Face interaction with customer is also done here and
Practical learning is always emphasized here.
For reporting to my senior I have to list down my personal

give enough time to fill up questionnaire.
Since financial information are confidential so they afraid to
provide appropriate data.

Attended customers on Telephone as well as convinced
them on face to face discussion.
Convinced many of rural customers and converted them
successfully for investing in our products.
