Introduction
Innovation
The time has come for the current use of websites, needs to make way for an innovation. DijiTok is a framework for WYSIWYG
design of “Customer Journeys”
Customer Journey
A Customer Journey as a experiential workflow that provides a complete experience for a user. A Complete Experience is one
that provides the following:
1. Context
2. Relation
3. Guidance
4. Buy in
5. Call to Action
6. Completion
Website Stagnation
Website Design has had little change since the first sites in 1994. Pages linked together by menus of buttons
(hyperlinked). It is true that technologies like Flash and the original Java Applets provided computer integrated
experiences but they have been deprecated in the wake of HTML5. However the popularity of mobile devices
an apps have done much to nullify the value of the Web.
Mobile Devices and Rise of the App
Many may remember the use of “Wizards” in Windows Forms Programming. This was a very simple technique
to walk a user through a sequential set of steps for providing information and collecting inputs. Mobile
programing has made use of similar techniques that provide journey-like experiences. However the same
challenges exists for the mobile app world; distribution, installation and update in a closed environment. This
is the whole reason the web is the most superior technology platform available “Openness”.
Transforming Web Use
There is a reason that the web has lacked participation in the Mobile Revolution, Programming the Solutions is
More Difficult.

Summary
The web needs a platform for providing “Customer Journeys”. This way everyone has the ability to provide
users a guided experience for learning and acting. The DijiTok Platform provides such a Solution.
Web Pages, Step Aside
Customer Journey is the Future
In the illustration (right), you can
see the evolution of the way
decisioning information is shared.
consumers digest information
differently from technology to
technology and generation to
generation.
Since more and more information
is shared in a digital format and
the written word is making way to
“infographics”, the world needs a
new technology framework to
share this type of information to
help facilitate better decision-
making.
People at large are becoming
more sensitive to the quality of technology solutions and this is only going to become increasingly important.
This will translate into more than “responsive websites”, but productive solutions with highly integrated
workflows.
How We Harness the Power of the Web
The Internet for all intent and purpose has been designed as an open technology. It is governed by the W3
Consortium and it dictates the standard of all protocols. Web technologies can be segregated into 2 groups:
Browser-Based and Server-Side. Browser-Based solutions are the ones we access from our favorite browsers
e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.
6. January 11, 2019
5
Mitchell Maynard All Rights Reserved
Challenges
The greatest challenge to browser-based solutions is the inconsistency of the W3 Consortium protocol
implementations for each of the browsers. This leads to many problems that force developers to “optimize”
browser functionality and make “cross browser” compatibility decisions that can limit the solution features
and functionality.
So, when we look to the widest
used implementations of W3
Consortium protocols they are
developed by large corporations
that have a vested interest in
maintaining control over their
own products and offerings. Not
that there is anything wrong with
this, but it does mean that we
need to consider these
implementations are not truly
representative of all that can be
done with the “actual” standards.
Moreover, browsers like Edge, Safari, and now Chrome are integrated with their operating systems and this is
even the case with mobile devices like iOS and Androids.
Wrap It Up
So, what does all this mean? It is hard to build open applications that will be exceptional experiences while
being compatible with all the different browser implementations of W3C’s HTML5. BUT IT IS WORTH IT! The
ability for Lay-People to use familiar tools to create content translated to HTML. This is significant because
everyone can participate, not just developers.
The DijiTok Platform provides a framework that will remain compatible with all major browsers so that
everyone can enjoy an equivalent experience across devices and operating systems. However, as a side note,
the best way to achieve all the HTML5 standards is to use a browser strictly adhering on an operating system
without prejudice.
Productivity Not Pages
We all have seen TV commercials (if you watch TV) that show sites like Wordpress, Wix or GoDaddy who
provide easy to use tools to create pages. While this may be a good thing for posting images or text on a web
7. January 11, 2019

Mitchell Maynard All Rights Reserved
page that is responsive to the size of a user’s device, it does little to help the user engage in a business activity
with the company.
What DijiTok does, is takes the same easy to use tools and applies them to a customer journey framework.
This allows the user to create a guided experience of the information in a sequence best suited for learning
about the topic.
Websites… Information Without Guidance
By Domain
The organization of information on the web is categorized by domains and from within those, there is content
available for consumption. Most content is available to the world through a file structure accessible by url
(uniform resource location) addresses e.g. http://dijitok.com/pages/libraries/index.html. However these urls
are something are not something that many people have to remember. They can become very, very long as
the file folder structures become very complex and deep.
By URL (Uniform Resource Location)
URLs are the key to making the world a much smaller place. Now someone in Vietnam can view an image that
is located in Canada just by using the url. This makes it possible for those who are disconnected
(geographically) to work together by compiling assets (images, text, and videos, etc.) into a “Page”. However,
most websites are built in siloes, meaning a team of developers constructing pages and programming within
the same domain.
By Hyperlink
“Hyperlinks” are launch pages with the click of a button or blue letters with an underline Websites…
Information Without Guidance. These “hyperlinks” become the key to all navigation on the web (in fact, they
are the basis of the page ranking systems). Hyperlinks can be pointed to any location on the web, by calling
the url. This allows anyone to be directed or redirected to new addresses in the same or another domain.
Think of them as the keys to different worlds available through a browser.
Web Page Layouts
Before Web Pages of the 1990’s, the most popular user interfaces were built as “windows” with very similar
layout structures.
8. January 11, 2019
7
Mitchell Maynard All Rights Reserved
As you can see from the image to
the right, menus in this
application are little different
from the latest website designs
of today.
The biggest problem with these
designs, is that they require a
learning curve to become familiar
with where to find the desired
functionality.
When a new user encounters an
unfamiliar application/website,
they are required to invest the
time to find what they need. As
the saying goes “you only get one
chance to make a first
impression”, web pages are
simply dumb.
What Advancements Do We See Today?
Advancements
If you have been a user of the internet for 20+ years, you have seen the advancements firsthand. But then you
have also seen many of the missteps. Most of the advancements have been in the adaptability of websites to
display on all devices and sizes “one code base, display everywhere. Additionally, the ability to create
animation, engaging interactions and WebRTC (video conferencing) without the aid of native libraries/code.
However, the Mobile Device browsers and operating systems are lagging, but then they are much younger
than the desktop.
Missteps
In my opinion, the greatest misstep of the world at large was due to the popularity of Apple product lines and
their ability to influence. The company that provided the product dismissed by Apple did not respond in a way
that silenced all concerned, but then that company was not a “true” software solutions company. If you are
wondering who & what I am referring to, it is Flash. By the time that the iPhone and iPad were gaining in
popularity, Flash was installed on almost every computer in use.
9. January 11, 2019
8
Mitchell Maynard All Rights Reserved
But it was the published opinion that Flash was not secure and therefore was not acceptable for the iOS
platform. Now, I realize there was many opinions about how Flash fit into the future, but Adobe (not the
original creators of Flash) did not respond in a way that resolved all issues and maintain their embedded tech
that could be harnessed by developers. Most people didn’t understand that what Flash really did, was
provided a “stopgap” for the limitations of the computer/device manufacturers.
To many the elimination of Flash from Mobile Devices was a natural part of the evolution: HTML5 eliminated
the need for Flash. BUT what they really did is mandated the use of apps and vicariously, the manufacturers
absolute control over their devices. If you recall, early in this paper I addressed the implementations of the
HTML5 standards and they are inconsistent and incomplete. What has really happened? Software
development has been made completely dependent on the Operating Systems where they live.
Summary Opinion
The Internet was intended to level the playing field for all those able to contribute based on the standards of a
not-for-profit organization. This objective was to allow the best ideas (no matter their origin) to bubble up for
use by the world. As is the case in all history, absolute power corrupts absolutely. The world needs distribute
its capital in favor of openness.
Now for the DijiTok Platform
Prologue
As we explored the history of internet utilization for the benefit of consumers, we have seen the obvious
difference between design and programming. If you are wondering how I got there, let me explain. The
implemented advancements of the web have been superficial, not harnessing the true benefits HTML5 e.g.
Local Storage, Web DBs, Web RTC, Multithreading, etc. The world needs a solution that provides generic
programming solutions for sharing information and stories with the opportunity to act.
The Framework
Basically, the framework provides everything needed for website developers to practice their craft within a
programming framework designed for customer journeys.
Server-Side
The framework is built in the cloud for global scalability with the most modern standards of development. It
has been built with a fully object-oriented programming language utilizing the latest in web api
communication standards and multi-threading with asynchronous protocols. All data is stored in a NoSQL
Highly Available Cloud Database, built atop Microsoft’s Azure Cloud Platform.
10. January 11, 2019
9
Mitchell Maynard All Rights Reserved
Front-End
The framework has been built atop of HTML5 standards with the most time-tested javascripting libraries in
modern times. Using global CDN’s (Content Delivery Network), resources can be efficiently delivered to users
across the globe. Whether it be images, text, videos, or CSS/Javascript, users will not suffer from slower
experiences. Using the DijiTok Admin toolsets, users can use the familiar (wysiwyg) tools for creating their content
for display within the DijiTok Customer Journey. Assets can be uploaded to our Cloud Storage for distribution
globally. Currently there are number of Dijitok customer journey types and many more will be coming. This is
required for those needing different features and functionality (both Administration and Customer Journeys).
The Platform
Architecture
User Interface
In a time when Responsive Websites has diluted the optimizations that can offered by developing standards.
Not to take away from the great work being done by responsive frameworks like Bootstrap or Foundation, but
the added complexity can create an unwanted side effect: functionality dilution. The Dijitok Platform
introduces 3 specific display targets: Phone, Portrait, and Landscape.
These display targets were selected for the initial release so that it can have a single base of content
constructed by the Dijitok’r. If you are familiar with responsive frameworks, then you know that they have
“breakpoints” for display sizes and the Dijitok Platform uses similar techniques.

Server-side Communications
Dijitok Web APIs have been built atop Microsoft’s Azure. This provides an unlimited scalability based on use
across all regions globally. Additionally, Microsoft’s unbiased position in the corporate landscape ensures
users have a non-competitive cloud provider. Using Azure, the platform can produce highly available data
and rich communications. We use ReSTful services, asynchronous calls with parallel processing and multi-
threading.
Much of that may be somewhat standard, but what the Dijitok provides is a “Big Data” implementation to
provide users of the Dijitoks. We use an approach to prepopulate browser local storage with content
expected to be consumed, based on user patterns.

Back-end Integrations
Databases
Dijitok Platform takes care of the storage of data, managing the availability and security. NoSQL (stands for
not only sql) provides a hybrid approach to storing data in both structured and unstructured formats. In
modern development, utilization of the data as a service is crucial. Data is the “Source of Truth” for system
integrity so it is much like a Hub and Spoke.
API Integrations
Dijitok Platform creates all the required programming to enable Dijitok’rs to incorporate external services.
Currently the integrations include:
1. Acuity Scheduling
2. DocuSign
3. HelloSign
4. SendGrid
5. Twilio
6. TokBox
7. Citrix
8. GotoMeeting
9. Join.me
10.Zoom
11.CKEditor
12.TinyMCE
As an expert in API integrations, the developer of the platform has developed easy to implement strategy.
New integrations can be added within days not weeks or months.

Templates
As is the case with website templates, Dijitoks can use templates for helping Dijitok’rs get started. This can
provide a revenue source for content designers who can create industry specific or topic specific Dijitoks.
Dijitok’rs are able to select a template and licensing fees will be shared with the template creator.
iAdvizrs Portal
This portal is a place where consumers can go to find people, advisors, and salespeople. Simply type in the
category or Dijitok ID to see Dijitoks. Anyone with a Dijitok can have visibility for those wanting to search (if
they so choose, not mandatory).

Digital Marketers and Designers
For years now, digital marketers and designers have been stagnating. SEO, landing pages, funnels, content
marketing and videos can offer attempts to promote the customer’s service or website, but they require
intermediaries to help customer to secure new appointments. When a prospective customer sees a landing
page or reads some content, they inevitably are faced with sending an email, filling out a form, making a
phone call (during business hours) and if they reach a website, they probably encounter more information that
creates “analysis paralysis”.
With all that said, the Dijitok Platform can put new life into your business. Using your skills/talents you can
create Dijitoks for your customers (even create templates to generate exposure to new clients). The Value
Added for you and your customers, is that you can control the complete process from beginning to end.
Meaning that your control the complete narrative of information and capture credit for direct linkage of your
efforts to “New Appointments”.
Additionally, strategic partnerships can be acquired so that there are a selection of Digital Marketing and
Designers who are approved for their expertise for building out Dijitoks.

Job Seekers/Hiring Company
Current Solution
We are all familiar with resumes as the primary means of communicating the background, accomplishments
and skills. As everyone knows, these “documents” are very inadequate in conveying the real person. It is
equally frustrating for HR & hiring managers tasked the responsibility of filtering through the resumes to find
those that may fit the job description. For those candidates that pass the initial scan, the same resume is
forwarded to a manager or others who will interview. BUT little can be done to prepare for an interview since
little is gleaned from the resume. This leads to unproductive interviews.
As someone who has been through the hiring process many times, I can tell you from personal experience that
this age-old process contributes to the transitory workforce. This is because fitting in as a part of a team is the
key to a successful hire. However, when the only information about the job seeker is a stack of paper with
words and little if anything is known about the team. Although it is said that the interview process is to be 2
sided (both hiring company and job seeker), this is all impossible to do with a criteria text scan, phone call and
perhaps a couple 1 hr meetings. One can only imagine the amount of failures that occur.

Dijitok Solution
At the heart of the Dijitok Solution are 2 features:
1. Verbose Personal Profile (Use Video, Images, Text, Hyperlinks, Presentations)
2. Scheduling Workflow for Integrated Video Meeting.
These components have been available separately but the Dijitok seamlessly integrates all aspects into
intuitive and easily distributed access. Think of each person involved in the hiring process having a Dijitok so
they can learn much more about each other. This will allow each to jumpstart their learning and even allow for
efficient meetings whenever needed. (See the infographic below).

Sales Professionals
State of the Industry
For most sales professionals, the benefits of the internet have not reached them, yet😊😊 There are a few
primary reasons that contribute to this reality (lack of technology, lack of professional branding, lack of
competitive website). But these reasons are symptomatic of an overriding cause: Lack of Money and
Resources.
Sales professionals tend to work with little support when it comes to technology and since most budgets are
not able to compete with larger organizations, they are left out in the cold. Essentially, they are unable to
compete on the largest stage in the world. I believe this stems from the sales culture and the leader’s
inclination to shun technology. There is always a priority on the face-to-face interactions between salesperson
and prospect. So, technology solutions that disrupt the natural flow of the sales process are seen as “business
prevention” not enhancing.
Long story short, sales professional need a technology solution that will help them use the internet to break
down geographical limitations and expand their reach, around the country or the world. This technology
needs to be professionally competitive and it must be intuitive. I am proud to say, “now they have the Dijitok
Platform”.
Current Modis Operandi
In the past, people reached new contacts with the telephone and/or mail. By cold calling or sending “junk”
mail to lists of people who fit certain categories/demographics, they could generate interest. Interest would
be followed by a phone call or a face-to-face meeting. Adapting to the realities of the day, “cold calls” have
become very much frowned on, and mail has been replaced by email. But now even emails are that are
unsolicited can be reported as spam and have negative consequences. In recent times, sms/texts are
experiencing the same boom in use and controls.
The only real options available for most, considering budget and restrictions, is SEO (search engine
optimization). If you are unfamiliar with SEO, basically it is when information is embedded within website
pages, so it will have better visibility with search engines. The biggest challenge with this approach is that the
prospect may inevitably end up at the sales professional’s website and this would be the end of the prospect’s
interest.
In order to prevent the loss of a prospect, digital marketers (who are not the same as web developers)
develop funnel systems and landing pages to capture email addresses. After which, email addresses will be
emailed with information to convert the “lead to prospect”. But this is just a longer path than what they used
22. January 11, 2019
21
Mitchell Maynard All Rights Reserved
to do for leads😊😊 Much of the success that is achieved in this process, is the tie to the local and is just another
tether to a geographical restriction.
Dijitok Basic Solution
Imagine a world where a sales professional can create an engaging presentation, using videos, images and text
using tools simpler than PowerPoint and have this available with a short URL. Then, at the end of the
presentation, offer a workflow to schedule a video meeting at a time convenient for the prospect, when the
sales professional is available. Followed by email confirmations and calendar invite with a simple link to click
for joining the meeting. This is the Dijitok Platform
I suppose a sales professional empowered with such a technology could find many new ways to promote their
product or service. They could replace landing pages and funnels to share their story. They could even
consider advertising on the web and in social media sites like Facebook to drive “click’rs” to their Dijitok. On
top of that, when they email their list of leads next time, they can include a link to their Dijitok and convert to
a video meeting.
Dijitok Advanced Solution
As you can see from the Dijitok Basic Solution, individual sales professionals can legitimately become
empowered to leverage the internet. But the empowerment to a sales organization is even greater. Digital
sales forces can be anywhere at any time and when meetings are conducted online with automatic scheduling,
new efficiencies will emerge. First, collaborating with a decentralized team is a breeze because arranging
meetings and seeing each other face to face has never been easier. Then if the sales professionals conduct
video meetings, they can be recorded and reviewed for training opportunities. This will provide managers with
information and opportunity never before possible.
Now you can see that technology can be used to bring people together, and it reaches people where they feel
most comfortable. In fact, great technology is such that it simply facilitates actions and doesn’t get in the way
of the process.

DISRUPTING WEBSITES
Need for Change
The Dijitok Platform will cause a change in the way people think about websites. As people adapt
implementing technology throughout their lives, so does the way information is presented on the web.
Websites became the standard for providing information. Many of us, who were participants in the
introduction of the internet, will remember what it was when we saw hyperlinks (blue lettering, underlined),
we knew it would take us somewhere else when we clicked. Much in the same way we learned what the
formatting meant to us, arriving at a webpage, we know to look to the top for menubar offering choices
leading to different pages.
Fast forward to the present, we see the same structure for websites (although the styling and user interfaces
may be more contemporary). Website visitors are expected to locate the links to the pages containing the
information they need to make the decisions they need to make 😊😊 What I am getting at, is that website
visitors have the responsibility to spend their valuable time looking through pages and links to find the
information they need and if that isn’t bad enough, they must write down a phone number to call someone.
For me this is very reminiscent of when I opened the yellow pages to a type of business, discern the business
worthy of my time and then dial my rotary phone. Although this may sound like a blast from the past it seems
to be ingrained within our psyche as an acceptable process 😊😊 But we can do better! We need to rethink our
norms and harness the power of the web to create a new normal.
New Normal
The introduction of Dijitoks can give website developers, content creators and digital marketers a whole new
platform to rethink how they present information. Since Dijitoks provide a framework for guiding the visitor
through the information “step by step”, they can imagine story telling leading to a “call to action”.
Essentially, Dijitoks replace the use of webpages. In fact, Dijitoks are the easiest way for a visitor to learn
about their chosen subject matter and then act by “taking the next step”. In the introduction of the Dijitok
platform, the focus is on the call to action is for scheduling a video meeting. For me, the most underserved
users of the internet have been those that provide advice and consultations. Examples of these would be:

3. Accountants

5. Physicians
6. Insurance Agents
7. Recruiters
8. Jobseekers
Those are just to name a few. Essentially anyone with the goal of sharing information about themselves, their
company, their product or a subject matter.
The new normal will be a place where users of the web will be able to find the information, they need to make
a decision without having to “piece it together” by researching websites created by the service providers. Now
the website visitor will find the topic of interest and walk through the Dijitok to learn about the offering. This
is much like having a guide walk you through the information.

Content vs Reference Materials
Now I am not saying that there is no need for web pages that provide reference materials (these could be web
pages or documents like pdfs). Each website can review the way they provide information. Some content
would be better as a part of a Dijitok, while other content will be best considered reference materials.
Content typically as a part of pages that provide context of the services or products, should be organized
within a Dijitok dedicated to a workflow|journey. This organization of content is one that requires separating
it from the category to its integration within the process.

Enter the Customer Journey
In a typical website restructuring for the new normal, the designer would think not in terms of grouping
information by category but by customer journey. As you can see from the infographic below, a Dijitok
customer journey will traverse each of the categories of information grouped in pages.
Current Normal: Website visitors arrive at a website and “browse” pages to collect information and “ass-u-
me” the visitor will know how to do the following:
