4. Peackok in a nutshell
Peacock is a beautiful bird belonging to pheasant family also popularly known as peafowl
There are three prominent species of peacock namely Indian peacock, African Congo peacock, and Green
peacock.
Peacock is the male bird, while peahen is a female bird and their babies are called peachicks and their group is
party.
Weight and length
Peacock weighs around 6-7 kg and their length is about 6-7 feet.
Anatomy of peacock
Peacocks have a crest on their head; making them appeal regal.
Eyes; there are white blotches above and blew their eyes
Beak the average beak of an adult peacock’s beak is an inch long.
Body; a peacock’s body is full of magnificent colorful feathers in the front and back.
Tail makes; 60% of the entire length of the bird.
Life span average of 15-20 years.
Eat plant part flower petals, seed head, insects, reptile, amphibians and arthropods.
Are polygamous by nature and they are considered to be loyal and faithful to their partners.
Blue peacock is national bird for India whereas grey peacock is national symbol of Burma
