Personal Information: I am a friendly hard working person with a keen desire
to learn new skills and evolve skills with time. I work well in a team but am
able to use my own initiative to get a job done if problems arise. I have
worked with Apple Mac computers at OS 10.4,10.5 & 10.8 - 10.10 and I am
also competent at using Windows operating systems. My interests at home
are Music and seeing live bands, I enjoy cycling and motorcycling, and
regularly make trips to the off road track at Elveden Forest.
During 2011/2012 I took a year out from work to travel India and South East
Asia. Whilst traveling I learned a lot about the different ways of life within other
communities and also the striking difference in culture, religious beliefs and
art. I really enjoyed my time away and tried to immerse myself in the way of
life as much as I could, visiting various active temples as well as ruins from
ancient civilisations (and wherever possible taking local non tourist transport
to get there!!). I feel that from this time away I have gained great experience in
understanding the spiritual values and work ethics of the various countries I
visited.

Employment:
Non Print/ Studio Job Roles: I worked for the Focus group for a 2 year
period from 1999 – 2001 which I left to gain experience in the construction
industry which I was studying at W.S.C at the time. I worked for Sindall ltd
which has now renamed itself as Bluestone. I left this job so I could spend
more time on my college work. I have also worked on a temporary contract
with Littlewoods Index in Bury St. Edmunds. After this I worked for B&Q Ltd in
Bury St. Edmunds from 2004 – 2006.
Print/ Studio Job Roles: From 2006 I joined Denny Bros Ltd, a specialist
printer in which I worked in the Pre-Press department taking clients work and
making it print ready. During this time I gained much hands on experience
using Adobe software and specialist Esko ArtPro software. The job role
involved creating preliminary cutter guidelines indicating full safe print areas
and required bleed areas. From this stage files would be sent out to customer/
clients for artwork to be placed into these files. Upon receiving these files
back from the customer/ client I would check the artwork followed the required
spec and would then apply all required trapping and imposition so they could
be sent through the RIP and on towards producing Plates for Print.
Following my employment at Denny Bros and after a year away traveling I
began working at Music Sales Limited, here my job role was more focused on
digital print workflows. The work also included digital restoration work of
deleted music titles involving the scanning of printed masters, of varying age
and quality. This restorative work usually involved importing a scan into
Photoshop and could be anything from adjusting levels on the black and white
artwork to complete remakes and colour replacement on others. The workflow
also involved the use of Xerox FreeFlow Makeready software, the software
worked in direct line with the scanners to create Bitmap files of black and
white images directly into imposition software. This could then be cleaned up
and resized to the desired print size, saved and submitted with all required job
ticket information.
My Current position is as a Brand Artworker with Adare Advantage in Haverhill
working as part of the Johnson & Johnson artwork studio. I work on the
Consumer Health Care team where we specialise on household brands such
as Band-Aid, Compeed, O.B, Listerine, Benecol and Regaine. I Have also
assisted in projects for brands such as Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, Johnson’s
Adult as well as Johnson’s Baby. My job role at Adare involves complete
artwork rebuilds and redesigns with project specific attention to changing
Printer specifications whilst adhering to Brand design guidelines. The projects
usually begin with a core collection of design files with instructions to
changing text content, icons, product size, languages and key regulatory
3. information. The main software used for this is Adobe Illustrator with ESKO
Deskpack plugins. The process of producing the artwork also involves
sending digital files out for approval on in house approval software from which
arwork changes are requested and actioned. Finally once approved we are
tasked to apply all requested pre-press work required by the assigned printers
to the point of line thickness, total inks used, ink coverage including screen
angles and minimum dot % (where necessary). The job role also requires a
level of Proof Reading, usually to check for client or studio introduced content
changes that deviate from the requested amends/ design briefs.
Achievements: During my time at school I managed to achieve various
awards from different activities. I have passed my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze
award which required various voluntary work for the community. I have also
passed the Ultimate swimmer award scheme which involved various water
safety exercises. I also used to play the Cornet, which I passed up to grade 5
and I used to play with the Soham brass band. During my time in South East
Asia I qualified as and Advanced Open Water Diver at PADI standards. I also
have a clean full UK driving license and Full UK Motorcycle A license. During
my time at B&Q I qualified as a forklift truck driver although the License has
since expired.
