3. Purpose
Valens Pet Nutrition is a family-owned Canadian company based
in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley and Woodstock Ontario.
We believe our pets should be fed diets with high fresh
meat inclusions consistent with their evolutionary digestive
capabilities, and are committed to creating and supplying only
fresh, natural, wholesome and nutritionally balanced cat and
dog food meals in healthy, innovative recipes.
As pet owners ourselves, we have sought to perfect the
preparation of pet food. Through research we have gone to
the next level in formulation and culinary performance by
enhancing our grain free, fresh meat recipes with Vita Cube,
Valens proprietary freeze dried pure meat cubes, to achieve a
Canadian first and make a global contribution to companion
animal nutrition and wellness.

4. We start our recipe formulation with the belief that dogs and
cats should be nourished in a manner consistent with their
nutritional needs and evolutionary digestive capabilities, and
combine this belief with current advances in nutritional science
that provide evidence that our pets are intended to eat meat-
rich, grain-free diets consistent with their ancestral guidelines.
We also recognize that dogs are not wolves and function
differently as companion animals in today’s society and have
therefore adjusted our recipes for the modern dog.
We include only ingredients in our recipes that directly benefit
your animal’s nutrition. These ingredients must meet the
quality of foods that go on our own dinner plate before they
are approved to go in the bag. This means we allow only fresh,
whole ingredients and natural supplements in Valens. All of our
ingredients must play an active role in your pet’s nutrition, and
for that reason there are absolutely no artificial preservatives,
colors or flavours in any of our recipes.

5. Valens is a fusion diet that we call FD+K (Freeze-dry + Kibble),
which effectively combines the ease and simplicity of feeding
what kibble offers, with the aroma and high palatability of raw
meat that dogs and cats instinctually crave.
Each of our recipes is paired with a freeze-dry inclusion that we
call our Vita-Cube, to both complement the diet and increase its
nutritional value.
Freeze-drying is a process of food preservation that only
removes the water content from the meat through the process
of sublimation, resulting in the most naturally preserved
product possible. Removing only the water keeps the cell
wall of the meat intact resulting in a food that retains its natural
aroma, taste, color, shape and size, while preserving its inherent
phytonutrients that include vitamins, minerals, amino acids
and enzymes.
Our FD+K fusion provides you with the security and confidence
that your pet is receiving natural, preservative-free, value-added
recipes that nourish them naturally.

6. We source all of our fresh de-boned meats from our network
of trusted, local and regional farmers and fishermen in Canada.
All our fresh meats are never frozen and transported under
refrigerated strict chain-of-custody conditions to ensure the
highest food safety, freshness and nutrient values possible.
Freeze-dried cubes of meat, the Valens Vita Cube, are combined
with the kibble to achieve an innovative nutritional formulation
that is a Canadian first and a global contribution to pet
nutrition.
To complement the fresh meats and Vita Cube additions,
we add whole fruits and vegetables from the Okanagan
and Fraser Valleys. Because all our recipes are grain free, we
include delicious sweet potatoes as a source of low glycemic
carbohydrates.
We complete our Valens meals by adding health-boosting
botanicals and micro-nutrients that contribute to a shiny coat,
healthy joints, excellent brain function and fresh breath.

health, safety and well-being, so our cooking process is
a critical component of ensuring wholesome, satisfying
meal preparation.
Our recipes are made exclusively in beautiful British Columbia’s
newest pet food facility in the Fraser Valley that is certified
under the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) as being a level-3
SQF facility.
We steam cook our recipes in small batches through extrusion
technology at exactly 90 degrees for maximum food safety and
quality control, to retain all the satisfying flavor and nutrition
your pet desires.
We practice a strict“Hold and Test”policy on all of our products
to ensure every batch meets our strictest quality guidelines, as
well as your family’s and pet’s highest expectations for
