2. • Kniffen studied ‘housing structure’ in
Louisiana, USA.
• He considered housing elements such as
house plan, roof, chimney, porches,
appendages, paint, windows, height, etc.
• Traversed all houses
visible to the road
along these routes.
3. • Mainly focused on,
– Those with side- ward-facing gables
– Those whose gables face the front
– Those having pyramidal roofs
– Those with shed roofs
• And identified 09 main types,
