PROFILE.
I am an apprenticed Aircraft Fitter (Weapons) with over thirty years practical
experience. I have been successfully employed in almost all aspects of my trade. I
have proven to be determined, adaptable and conscientious, this, coupled with my
wide ranging experience within my trade have contributed to me being selected to fill
posts deemed above my rank, ahead of more senior personnel.
SUMMARY OF EMPLOYMENT
Feb 13 – Gardening and Charity Work
Jun 09 – Feb 13 BAES Taif Saudi Arabia.
Initially employed as an Egress Technician on Typhoon Aircraft. Duties included
setting up the bay and formulating systems for work, planning and recording in
preparation for scheduled maintenance arisings. From Jan 11 promoted to training
supervisor role responsible for training and overseeing Saudi nationals in maintenance
and recording procedures.
Jul 08 –Feb 09 Contracting.
Contracted to Airbus Toulouse (via MPI) as an aircraft fitter, initially on nut change
programme, subsequently employed on a weekly basis performing wing stud
modification programme on A380. During the period 3 – 19 Dec reassigned to
Hamburg performing trailing edge panel change.
Apr 07 – Jul 08 Self Employed.
Following my forced redundancy I retrained as a Domestic Energy Assessor and
started my own business. However due to the collapse of the housing market was
unable to make a living.

Aug 2001 – Apr 07 DARA St Athan.
Employed within the Aircraft Servicing Party as a technician with the role of removal,
installation and testing of Aircraft Assisted Escape Systems and weapon carriage
equipment on Tornado (GR4 & F3), Hawk, Harrier GR7 and Jaguar aircraft.
In March of 2002 I was elected by my shift to fulfil the role of team coordinator. In
November I was elected by both my workmates and management to the position of
team leader. This post carries with it the responsibilities of controlling section
workflow and quality management in addition to imputing a reduced degree of
practical work.
Jan 00 – Aug 2001 Ifor Williams Trailers Ltd.
Production operative. Selected for charge hand training but left the company before
post became available.
Feb 97 – Jan 2000 BRAMA RAF Valley.
Explosives Storage Area Controller, responsible for all aspects of explosives storage,
transportation and licensing at RAF Valley.
Apr 96 – Feb 97 RAF Halton.
Training Development and Support Unit.
Training Development consultant, responsible for development and validation of
training for the armament trade. Left Royal Air Force at own request having attained
the rank of Chief Technician.
Mar 94 – Apr 96 RAF Halton.
SNCO i/c Station Armoury, responsible for all armament matters. This included the
storage and maintenance of service and civilian small arms, explosives storage and
management, small arms range management.
May 92 – Mar 94 RAF Bruggen.
Initially employed as ESA Controller, heading a team of some 60 subordinates,
directing all explosives operations on unit. From Jan to Jul 93 I was detached to
3BAD Bracht, again as ESA Controller to cover the detachment of the incumbent
Flight Sergeant. Returned to Bruggen as ESA Controller until Sep 93 when I was re
detached to Bracht (on FS pay) to end of tour.

Mar 90 – May 92 RAF Guttersloh.
Initially employed as SNCO i/c the Armament role Equipment bay managing a team
of 8 men. Detached on “Operation Granby” heading the armament team of 8 men in
support of No
18 Sqn Chinook helicopters, operating from remote forward operating
bases. Promoted to Chief Technician in Apr 91, and tasked as a member of the
manpower Accounting Review Team. On completion of this task I completed my tour
in the post of Arm Eng Controller.
Oct 88 – Mar 90 RAF Lyneham.
Employed as SNCO i/c Small Arms Servicing and Explosives accounting. Here I
managed a team of 10 subordinates and received a special recommendation for
promotion for my efforts.
Sep 84 – Sep 88 RAF Bruggen.
Employed as SNCO i/c Armament Ground Support Equipment. Here I managed a
section of some 20 subordinates tasked with the receipt and bringing into service of
all new AGSE supporting the Tornado wing, receiving a special recommendation for
my efforts in this task. As a secondary tasking I was employed on bomb Disposal
duties (formally trained in both EOD and IED work). During the period Dec 84 – Apr
85 I was detached temporarily and at short notice to 14 Sqn Jaguar being placed in
charge of a shift, being responsible for all armament first line and limited rectification
operations.
Oct 83 – Sep 84 RAF Guttersloh.
Employed within the ESA as a team leader in Cluster Bomb Servicing. Promoted to
Sergeant and posted.
Apr 81 – Oct 83 RAF Valley.
Employed in the Station Armoury as NCO i/c Small Arms Servicing and Explosives
accounting.
Apr 78 – Apr 81 RAF Bruggen.
Initially employed as fitter armourer tasked with first line operation of Jaguar
Aircraft. Promoted to Corporal in Apr 80 and tasked as NCO i/c shift.

Oct 72 – Apr 78 RAF St Athan.
Employed as fitter armourer, initially in the Small Arms armoury then from Sep 76
within the Ejection seat servicing Bay. Here I was employed in all aspects of Ejection
seat maintenance and modification, removal and installation, on a wide variety of
aircraft types. These spanned the technology from Meteor and Canberra through to
Buccaneer and phantom.
Nov 72 – Oct 74 RAF Halton.

231 Entry.
Prior to joining the RAF I spent a short period as an Apprentice Instrument Maker
with the MOD at RAF Sealand.
