INSIGHT SIP OVERVIEW
Insight SiP was founded in 2005 by Michel Beghin and Chris Barratt
(CEO and CTO) around a core team of Senior Engineers from National
Semiconductor in response to the fast growing demand for ultra-
miniature wireless systems. With headquarters in the centre of Sophia-
Antipolis France, Insight SiP has a global presence with subsidiary in
Denver, Colorado and sales office in Tokyo, Japan since 2008.
Insight SiP’s offer is based on the capability to deliver new innovative
solutions to the market in record time, thanks to a unique set of design
techniques.
The System in Package (SiP) approach consists of integrating several
different components from different semiconductor and passive
technologies into a single package or miniaturized module. This allows
for extremely rapid and low cost development cycles. Insight SiP
combines its RF know-how with the unique ability to embed functions
within the package irrespective of the technology: organic substrates (BT,
FR4...), multi-layer ceramic substrates (LTCC, HTCC, Thick film…) or
thin film Integrated Passive Devices (IPD) on silicon or glass.
At Insight SiP the addition of ultra-miniature antennas to the RF
System in Package to create a so called “Antenna in Package”
product (AiP) has been a fundamental part of its long term research
program. This R&D work has already been implemented in products for
Bluetooth Low Energy and Wireless High Definition Interface products.
Insight SiP’s methodology is combining electromagnetic simulations
together with circuit level simulation and optimization, based on a user
extendable library of physical objects.
The technical team headed by Chris Barratt is constituted of 15
Scientists, 9 of whom have PhDs. In particular Electromagnetic
simulation, Antenna design and circuit theory are the key characteristics
that enable the creation of innovative miniature RF SiPs and AiPs.
Insight SiP is a Research Center approved by the French Ministry of
Education and Research. Several advanced R&D programs currently in
progress are awarded and supported by National and European Public

Research Organizations including French FUI program, European
Eureka/Eurostars program and European Catrene program.
In 2010, Insight SiP has been approved by Commander US Army
CECOM for R&D contract N° Wxxxxx-xx-x-xxxx.

developments including smart phone front end modules and a complete
range of wireless systems (GPS, Cellular 2G/3G/4G, Bluetooth, WLAN,
ISM RF, AMR, WHDI, BLE, UWB, NFC, RFID, 60GHz). Insight SiP is

Focusing on a particular activity, Insight SiP proposes ready-to-use RF
modules for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) applications for major
ODMs and innovators in the IoT and wearable product space. They are
the optimal solutions for designers looking to add wireless connectivity to
a product without a complex and time consuming development cycle.
These modules can be personalized to meet customer specific
requirements and technical constraints.
BLE Modules proposed by Insight SiP in its portfolio have passed all
certifications for RF equipment authorization in the main industrialized
countries (FCC, CE, IC and Telec) and have been granted Bluetooth SIG
certification as well.
Insight SiP is highly focused on product quality. In order to provide its
customer with the best reliability, Insight SiP has qualified global Asian
CEMs which are offering a high level of manufacturing certification to
produce its BLE Modules range of products (ISO9000, OHSAS18001
Health and Safety management, ISO13485 Medical requirements,
AS9100 Aerospace requirements, QS9000 Automotive requirements).
