Registration
• Access the TILTer under:
https://daskita-tilter.infra.ise-apps.de/
• Register yourself in the TILTer by
clicking on the marked field
• Please provide a username and a
secure password, follow the instructions

Task Overview - Overview
• After the registration process you will
be forwarded to the “Task Overview”
• The Task Overview gives you an
oversight for all privacy policies of
companies available
• From this list search the company
you want to annotate
• As an example we will take “signal”
• Click on the grey arrow for “signal”

TILTer Label Studio - Overview
• The “TILTer Label Studio” enables you
to mark privacy policies of companies
• In this case we want to mark the
privacy policy of “signal”
• In a first table you can see the
descriptions of every annotation, which
you use for marking text elements
• In the next step we will annotate a text
element
• If an element is not present in the text,
don’t use the annotation for it
HINT: Each annotation is an element in the
TILT Schema, that you can attribute to
distinct text elements

TILTer Label Studio – Annotation I
• Click on an annotation that you want to
use
• In this case we clicked on “Controller –
Company Name”
• The chosen annotation will be marked
with its individual color
• You can also use the 1 to 9 keys to use
hotkeys to choose an annotation

TILTer Label Studio – Annotation II
• Drag your mouse courser over the text you want to
mark and hold the mouse button
• Afterwards the text will light up in the individual
annotation color
• If it doesn’t, your annotation was not recorded
• If you annotated everything you wanted, click on
the blue “Update”-button (marked red)
• Make sure to hit Update after you have done your
annotations, otherwise they will be lost
• Once you hit Update and you have marked every
Annotation, that you could find in the privacy policy,
the task is complete
HINT: Some annotations can only be chosen once,
you will receive a hint in this case

TILTer Label Studio – Deletion
• You can remove annotations
• Click on the annotation in the marked
field
• The red button with the trash icon gives
you the option to delete

TILTer Task Overview– Subtasks
• Annotations trigger the creation of
subtasks
• For “Controller” the annotation
creates a Subtask in the Task
Overview
• Once a Subtask is created, click on
the arrow on the left side of the task
• A Subtask will open
• Click on the grey arrow of the Subtask
to get into the TILTer Label Studio to
use Annotations again
• The complete work on the privacy
policy of the company is finished if all
Subtasks of a company have been
completed

TILTer Label Studio – Subtasks
• Continue Annotation in your Subtask as
before
• Choose an Annotation and mark the
respective text
• For proceeding through Subtasks use
“Update & Continue”
HINT: Unused annotations are seen as “not
available” in the privacy policy – please make
sure that the annotations you don't use are
surely not in the privacy policy

TILTer Task Overview– Multiple Subtasks
• Some Annotations can be used multiple
times
• For Annotations where this is not
possible a notification will show up
• Please make sure to perform multiple
Annotations of the same element if
possible and if they can be found in the
text
• If multiple Annotations trigger a new
Task, this new Tasks will also be created
in the Task Overview

TILTer Task Overview– Multiple Subtasks II
• “Source” is an Annotation which can be
used multiple times
• “Srouce” also triggers the creation of
Subtasks → Will show up in the Task
Overview
• Please make sure to annotate every
Subtask also for multiple Annotations

TILTer Label Studio – Boolean Annotations
• Some Annotations need to be inferred from written
text and checked for existence – “Boolean
Annotation”
• “Data Disclosed – Nondisclosue – Data Disclosed
Category” is a Boolean Annotation
• Once you hit Update a Notification will show up
• Infer from the shown text, what can be inferred and
what can not and mark the respective Annotations
• Descriptions of Annotations can be found by hovering
over the question marks
• Hit Update once you are done
HINT: Boolean Annotations only show up, when you
hit Update. Even if the subtask seems to contain one
done annotation hit “Update” to check for Boolean
Annotations

• You can check your TILT-
Representation of the Task/Privacy
Policy you are working on
• Go into one of the Tasks of your Privacy
Policy and click on TILT Representation
