2. Be honest- practice honesty everyday by being truthful, fair, kind, compassionate, and respectful. Be positive- Focus on strengths. Be responsible- Meet obligations. Be resilient- One mistake doesn’t mean failure. Be engaged- Be active; have desire to contribute. Be willing to learn- Be flexible and open to new ideas. Be supportive- Don’t interrupt or criticize Be a creative problem solver- Challenge beliefs and try new approaches. Be disciplined- Keep up on assignments, set goals and priorities. Be grateful- Reflection on your blessings, strengths, and talents.
4. Attitudes have a lot to do with how we relate to others, to the world and even how we see ourselves. Don’t resist change (many people do) Ability to adopt change is crucial to in school and success in the workplace.
6. Be willing to change- don’t find excuses. Focus on the positive- see the good qualities in yourself and others. Develop specific goals- “I will study 40 mins. a day” Change only one habit at a time- you will be discouraged if you try to change too many things about yourself at once. Start small- small steps each day will produce major results. Use visualization and affirmations to imagine success. Observe and model others- observe successful students.
7. Be aware of your thoughts and behaviors- reflect how you can be more successful. Reward yourself- reward when you’ve made a positive change. Be patient and persistent- Lasting change requires time. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t accomplish your goal within the first week of trying.
