1. Outline
Introduction
Thesis: Everyone should know about pregnancy along with natural labor and childbirth, it is
important knowledge for one to have regardless of gender for several reasons; to understand the
consequences of sexual activity, the truth about pregnancy, labor, and childbirth, and lastly why
it is the best option when bringing a child into the world.
I. More detailed and realistic knowledge of how pregnancy, labor, and childbirth naturally
occur will prepare a person for parenthood and make them more responsible about sexual
activity.
a. Most people don’t know anything about child bearing or rearing when they
discover that they are expecting.
b. Sex education is absolutely lacking and is responsible for the amount of teen
pregnancies; if the detailed colorful reality was taught instead of a biology lesson
with black and white diagrams than perhaps this would change.
c. The choice of parenthood can be responsibly decided upon with the proper
knowledge, without it lives can fall apart, those of the family and the unborn.
II. The reality of pregnancy, labor, and childbirth is messy, overly glorified, and
completely complex.
a. Naturally pregnancy causes morning sickness, weight gain, stretch marks, acne,
gas, heartburn, fatigue, moodiness, soreness, dizziness, frequent urination, back
pain, pelvic pressure/discomfort, excessive sweating, constipation, hemorrhoids,
sinus infections, etc…
b. Labor is a natural action of the human body and should be carried out as so;
induction, epidural, and other medications not only slow down the progress
2. leading to extremely long labors and further medical interventions but can also
cause excruciating pain during labor or for the long term.
c. Childbirth is the most delicate part of bringing a child into the world but also gets
the worst rep because the possibility of tearing or episiotomy causing many to opt
for a cesarean that has grown in popularity even though it is a major surgery only
meant for emergencies; cesareans have huge risks and many complications both
long and short term.
III. What you should know: going natural sounds crazy for the women in the room, the men
in the room are probably wondering why it concerns them; Natural birth has the best
benefits that both genders should know about because it is vital to have your own
understanding of it plus who knows what crazy situation anyone could end up in, babies
have been born in taxi cabs and other public places before.
a. Natural happens when your body is ready, has the fastest healing time, releases
the natural pain relieving hormones, is easier on mother and baby, has less of a
mortality rate, prevents complications to mother and baby, etc.
b. Interventions cause hemorrhaging, infant and maternal death, prolonged labor and
birth, extreme pain and lack of oxygen to baby caused by induction, risk of short
term, long term, or permanent paralysis due to epidural, etc.
c. Why both genders should care; it’s the child of both parents, the man is the
support and the spouse of the woman enduring this challenge, and the women
winds up at the mercy of her doctors and support if not knowledgeable.
