Volleyball originated in 1895 when William G. Morgan created a new game called Mintonette. It was introduced to the Philippines in 1900. A team earns a point by winning a rally, the opponent failing to return the ball over the net, or the server committing a fault. A volleyball match is played between two teams of six players on a court that is 18 meters long and 9 meters wide, with the net set at different heights for men and women.
